Should have came her with this one.

Anne Rice - The Sleeping Beauty Novels

Anne Rice writing as A.N. Roquelaure - The Sleeping Beauty Novels

"The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty"
[II] "Beauty's Punishment"
[III] "Beauty's Release"

I just picked up the set at Barnes & Noble. Sorry friends of the north, they are charging you more $63.00 and only $42.00 for us yanks.

When you work out the exchance, we only pay like 10 bucks more. So it's not that big of a deal to us.

So, what kind of Lit story are you looking for?

This is my first read of the story, but I had in mind of other stories that make you wonder.

"The 7 Dorfts"

7 midgets and a beautiful girl. Gangbag and she sees it in her dreams. She remember her dreams.

Actually that's probably the standard retail price. There are tones of places up here (north) to get the trilogy for much less.

Doesn't Anne Rice frown upon "fanfic"? I would look into her policy before venturing to write anything that relates very closely to her work.

I love the idea of twisted-around fairy tales, though. Have you ever read the Politically Correct Fairy Tales books? I think they're by a guy named MacDonald (?).

Traditional stories with a sexual twist are fun, too. I think there are a few on the site already -- the Snow White idea sounds familiar somehow.

What about biblical stories with an erotic twist? That'd be interesting, although many of them are already "dirty." How about an elaboration of a Song of Solomon?

the Snow White tale twisted....

I've thought about doing "twisted fairy tales" as well (and have a large book of "classic" tales (instead of Disney whitewashed) ), but being a fan of Rice's Beauty trilogy I worry that I would plagiarize her without even trying! :(

so deliberately shift the setting away from her location. Start wriyting from a different point in the story....

I doubt I'd write up my own Sleeping Beauty, so "starting at a different point" really wouldn't pertain here. But, being a "fan" of BDSM ( ) and Rice I worry any fairytale I write would be too similar...

I wouldn't worry so much about it. I'm not a BDSM fan, though a friend of mine told me that I should be, because of my manner.

Rice's voice is really different, sometimes she bores me with descriptions. Other times the paintings are very clear. This is the first of her stories that I've read.

I would like to see more fairy-tales written about the "happily everafter". Hey! That's a cool name for a series of tales...I think I'll :D

 So, the Beauty Trilogy bores you at times?

Yep, I've been only reading a chapter at a time. It making more sense now, though.

I was like, I'll be dead as soon as I figured it that I was to be a slave. Murder, death, kill. The Prince Alexi character chilled my thoughts on that. But, I'm thinking that it would be real disappointing if Prince Alexi doesn't get to fuck the Queen up her asshole.

The only thing I didn't like was chapters about Beauty were in third person, but when it was about Tristian suddenly it was first person.

I haven't got there, but I like the third person better, because I try to read deeply. The first person really turns me off. Unless its a male protagonist in a fantasy that I could deal with.

I think switching points of view would be jarring.
