I'm surprised no one else posted this, or maybe we all just try to block Coulter out. She certainly needs to be ignored. I think what bothers me most about this is that the political bigwigs were all there and that this kind of commentary is evidently just fine for them. It's not so fine for me.

I've stopped paying attention to Coulter after she said freedom of speech should be denied to those she doesn't agree with.

A sad, twisted person.

There are some people who reflect upon the human race in such ugly and humiliating ways that it's painful to watch them.

They don't care for Ms. Coulter either. ;)

Snicker.

Hey Shang. Nice to see you. :)

Well said.

In terms of pure political theater, she's a colorful character. Kind of like Carville, to cite an equivalent on the other side. I heard him say about an ideological adversary one time, "If his throat was on fire I wouldn't piss in his mouth to put it out."

Such people have assigned roles to play, and play them well or not. One shouldn't take them all that seriously. If they get an emotional response out of you (other than pure amusement) they would consider that they've done their job.

SJ, with bottom-feeding life-forms such as Coulter, it's best to remember what Granny always said: Just consider the source.

If she was the best the GOP had to offer, and she's not, the Dems would run this country for the next 100 years.

Rumple Foreskin

More like Hitler if you ask me. Calling someone a faggot or nigger or spic isn't political theater, it's hate speech, but it's typical of Coulter's level of discourse and just the kind of thing her fans like to hear.

Does she call people those things? I've only seen her a few times but I never heard that.

Yes, in the clip on the first post of this thread.

She's like a rabid dog. I always expect her to froth at the mouth when she's spewing hate.

Ah, yes. Very crude.

No 'spic' or N-word, though - if she had said those I would think she would be banned.

I'm with you that this is hate speech. It particularly disappoints me that this kind of language and attitude was used at a conference with all the Republican hopefuls (save McCain), plus the VP. But I suppose it does say alot about Coulter if the best attack she can make is to start calling names randomly.

The saddest thing isn't that she says horrible things. The sad, actually scary, thing is she has an audience among people with influence and power. Where is their outrage?

Ann Coulter is a media whore. Nothing more. Her writing skills are passable, but she has nothing to say. So, to sell books, she plays the complete shit-head, says nasty, horrible things about anyone and stupidly tries to defend her position on every talk show in America.

Unfortuantely, it works. People need to ignore this bitch so she'll just disappear.

Every single politician who attended CPAC should be asked at every public appearance : "You attended CPAC where Ann Coulter spoke. Do you thus endorse her world view? Do you think she speaks for conservatives?"

The problem with that, Ted, is you would most likely get a resounding "YES".

For conservatives, no. For the revolutionaries disguised as conservatives, yes.

Yeah, Jenny, but you've just fallen into the trap. All politicos and all commentators are media whores, superficial and intrinsically dishonest. Why give them the oxygen of publicity?

I think there's a longer discussion of this, Elle. For instance, who told Opreha she knew anything about anything and why can't she keep her mouth shut and stop giving out really bad advice on television to her hoard of loyal, brainless followers. Why is FOX NEWS still on the air? How come someone hasn't assasinated Rush Limbaugh and why did FOX keep him after he was convicted of drug abuse?

The list goes on...

There are some conservatives coming out against her comments. A spokesman for McCain and for Romney have both said it was unacceptable (tho neither candidate personally); a Christian news organization (I can't remember which) commented against, tho their comments also included praise for Coulter's wit and intelligent and condemnation of Edwards' "radical agenda."

Of course they are, SJ. Elections are drawing near. Even though they totally agree with Coulter's insanity, they will distance themselves in hopes of drawing on the political middle ground for votes.

After the election, they will revert to their previous, untenable, positions though

No, the only way to get rid of people like this is for people to tar the people who hire her and show up to listen to her with the same brush.

The only tactics that work with those people are shame and money. If they (Presidential hopefuls) show up at her events, than other, decent people in the race must demand loudly and incessently that they return their donations from the hate groups who hired her.
