anime lovers?

I've really only gotten into Akira (the movie) and Cowboy Bebop. heh, some of then are just too out there for me.

I love anime - mostly school romance comedy things, or marooned in an alien/fantasy world things, and all things gender-bending or yaoi. I don't like violence or tragedy though, so that excludes a lot of anime from what I'm willing to watch or would like if I watched it. I didn't particualrly like Akira for example.

i dont think i have watched an anime yet that wasnt violent.lol. as for the gender bending stuff, this girl friend of mind tried to get me into it. some of it was pretty hot.lol. :nana:

I'd have to go back and check to be sure, but I don't think there's much violence in .hack//SIGN. At least, not in the Python-esque, severed limbs and spraying blood sense. It is a show about an RPG (if you want a summary in 12 words or less), so there are a few scenes of players fighting monsters, and players killing players, but that's death in the RPG sense: "Oops. Well, where did I save my game last..?"

Anyways. I really enjoyed .hack//SIGN, (I've seen Legend of the Twilight, but that wasn't as good in my oppinion). Anyone have suggestions of other shows I might like?

oh yeah. i forgot about that one. i've never actually watched an episode though. i know there were like a ton of .hack videogames though. it sounds like a pretty interesting series.

I think the show came first and then the RPG.

Yes. And no.

You're talking about the PS2 games. And those are basically a game within a game. A "simulated MMORPG", where you have the game proper (as mentioned below, called "The World"), and then a "desktop" area where you read e-mails from characters you meet in the game, and news articles that illuminate events in the "real world" of the setting. All of that serves to forward the plot (along with, of course, conversations you have in the game with other characters).

So, the characters in .hack//SIGN are players in an MMORPG called "The World", which was then translated into an actual game as part of the PS2 serries. More or less.

There are lots of animes that aren't violent. (I don't count a fist fight or comical martial arts as violent, I'm happy as long as nobody dies.) Some great non-violent animes are: Uninhabited Planet Survive, Akazukin ChaCha, GreenGreen, Dragon Half, Haunted Junction, I My Me Strawberry Eggs, They Were Eleven, and there are lots more.

I watch a few different series, but like some have said, I'm very picky.

My favorites are:

Dragonball/Z/GT - All-time favorite
Gundam Wing
Outlaw Star
Evangelion
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Inuyasha
Big-O

Gundam Wing is the only Gundam show I'll watch. I just couldn't get into any of the others.

Dragonball Z will always be my favorite, even though some say it and the other two series have too many episodes. It was the first anime that I really got in to and I really liked the story-line.

I've seen FAR too much anime to go into here, so I'll just list my top 5:

1. Cowboy Bebop
2. Initial D
3. Neon Genesis Evangelion
4. Hellsing
5. Witch Hunter Robin

As for hentai (really, that's why were all here, isn't it?) I reccommend Fourplay, Step-sister and, of course, Bible Black.

Here are some anime that I love.

I love animes that have deep plots, and not made just for the sake of gore or none-stop killing.
These are some of the anime that I think everyone should watch, at least once in their lifetime:
1. Grave of Fireflies
2. Kino's Journey (Kino no Tabi)
3. Ghost in the Shell (movies + tv series)

Plus I love all the funny, silly ones too.

I'll second all those who have mentioned Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Also really enjoyed the new Appleseed movie that came out in the last few years - the graphics were fantastic.

Starting to get into Samurai Champloo and Full Metal Alchemist thanks to Cartoon Network.
