How to start.
As being currently in the land of the free. And I have no idea how things are gonna work out. Or IF they are gonna work out.
However I dont mind. I knida get a kick out of travelling uncharted waters. And never knowing what tomorrow will bring.
So I'm not a safty addict anymore. Jump into whatever you wanna do. Head first.

Somehow I just know I have a Guardian angel of all things unknown, hanging close by.

Anyway. How many would actually jump head first into an adventure of starting a new life in another place, without ever looking back, and just doing what YOU think is right for YOU??

of course i jump in head first into the adventure of life, how do you think i came to a point were i swam across a frozen wriver to pay for rent.

Todd. I'm not talking about swimming across a river for rent money.

I'm talking about leaving everything you know behind. Never look back. I mean the BIG adventure, where you really dont know what tomorrow will bring. Where you dont know if you have a place to stay the next day.

I'm talking about leaving EVERYTHING behind you. And move to the other side of the world. And stand completely alone.

Do I count? I don't really think so. I always look back. And I go where others tell me I have to go. Although I did once hop a plane to go to Dover DE with no previous plans or arrangements. LOL Got stuck there, too. Couldn't get back on military planes. I had to spring for a commercial ticket. It was kinda fun.

See it is fun. And a challenge I wouldn't have been without

getting booted out of my family left with all my belongings without any money ar any friends lived in an underpass till i could find enough work to provide 2 months of rent and a dmage deposit

No family, no friends no home for 3 months. no fall back plan besides a nice overpass. Starting from scratch with absoluetley nothing

Does that count?

Yay! Thank you Xander, and you almost had me wanting to give up and crawl back in my over pass.

FYI- if you can find a good over pass the room underneath is 4 foot tall 40 foot wide and about 20 feet deep rather comfortable but it is noisy the first few nights. and sleeping near the back the eather isn't really that bad. I would rate it a 6 of 10 stars fro a place to live

I've always wanted to ask this. Why would someone choose to live outside, especially in the dead of winter, instead of going to a shelter for help?

The way the shelters and any assistance work in this area is you don't get none unless you have some sort of disability or unability to actaully work. If you have a healthy body and mind and are able to work, even if you can't get a job you are screwed right up the ying yang. its a messed up systme in my area, i don't think its nation wide, but i do know it is pretty much provcince wide.

Even churches won't help? Didn't you do volunteer work helping serve meals at Christmas?

Xander, this is a big and great country

Some of my best memories are taking the plunge into the unknown and spending a couple of years on the road hitch-hiking from city to city and living by my wits. Much harder to do in America than Europe is the impreesion I get from European travelers.

I hear yiou on that one. I dont know if it's harder here than in Europe though.
It's just different I guess.
What I've learned from being through borth places is this. What seems to be harder than hell here. Is a piece of cake in Europe, and visa versa. I guess it all come down to a degree of adaptation.

I always so admire people who can do what you've done, Xander. To move so far, especially by yourself! It's a very bold thing to do. I don't think I could do it.

I've been worried enough about moving just 250 km down the road, and I'm taking most of my belongings with me. I'm obsessing about my ability to find a job and make new friends. What if I end up broke and lonely? I guess I'm just not the adventurous type. LOL

I'm leaving early tomorrow. I'll keep in touch.

I would love to take off & even have the money to do it. Unfortunately, my family has been through so much in the last year that I don't feel I can do that. I even know where I would go, maybe someday I'll be able to actually do it. In the meantime, I can plan & think about it.
