Well, you could always use my fool-proof method of dealing with a snake:

1- Find Snake

2- Grab shotgun

3- Load one round of rocksalt

4- Aim at said slithering bastard

5- Squeeze (Don't pull, it ruins the sight picture) the trigger

6- Roll around on the ground giggling your ass off as it slithers into a dark, deep hole
