Andrew Wyeth passed away

I read that this morning.

The art world is saddened and so am I.:(:rose:

One of a kind, never fully appreciated. I find much of his work haunting.

I disagree. He was fully appreciated by the public and many an art critic thought him America's reigning painter, certainly America's reigning representational painter. Those who relentlessly bad-mouthed him were the same who relentlessly bad-mouthed Norman Rockwell even though he was the finest portraitest of the 20th Century.

Certain "wise fools' insist that theirs is the only truth. Such people don't like any representational art. Their days are numbered, their influence waning badly . . . thank Heaven!

And I've seen the Helga originals. Masterworks by any definition.
