I logged in as the board shut down. The only thing it would let me do was start a thread, I got a message telling me it was unable to post :D

Neon, why "propinquus"?

(I can't be arsed to look it up. :p)

Hi ya Lou,

It's closeness usually time based 'the propinquity of arrival and departure' - seems to be my fate at the moment, doesn't allow me to settle. Flying back tommorrow for the wife's op. on Wednesday.

Ah, I get ya!

Yes, it does seem quite "you" right now. All the best to you and your wife, if I don't catch you again before then.

cant's back!

Hi cant! How was your trip?
Hey logo!

Trip was fucked from the get-go, but I had a tolerably good time nonetheless.

The problem was a Doctor Lopez who refused the docs and nurses permission to do medicine in the country. The group's director jumped through hoops for a while, but eventually they took off for Honduras. There was a project ongoing in northern Honduras already, with full permission to work.

We are back. Belize is a very interesting and beautiful place, and I had some key experiences, artistically. We did health education, since there was no ban on educational activity, and I began to sketch people, on the spot, from life.

We were living in a school dormitory. It is a boarding high school just south of Maskall, Belize, on the Old Northern Highway. I sketched mostly students. Basically, four minute, six minute pencil renderings; quick portraiture. I was phenominally successful, too. I'd never been under such extreme pressure to do that, before. It worked brilliantly. It was extraordinarily liberating to find I wa capable of it.

But as a medical team, we were prevented from being a force.

I shall write up the thing and start a thread on it.
