In Berkeley on Sunday, some observers derived satisfaction from watching far-left protesters beat up and chase off a young man at the rally in apparent support of Trump.

“It’s a good time,” said Tom Martell, 70, of Crockett, who stood in Civic Center Park with his girlfriend, Lisa Argento, 53.

“They’ve got to be chased out,” Argento said. “I moved to the Bay Area and pay good money to live here. I don’t want these people here. They need to leave us the f— alone.”

The hysteria ginned up about white supremacists and Nazis resulted in Patriot Prayer being branded a "hate group" and Democratic politicians pretending that they were. This despite the Southern Poverty Law Center - not known for their tolerance of conservative and religious groups - stating on their website:

"At his most recent rally, in Seattle on Aug. 13, Gibson openly denounced white supremacism and neo-Nazis. In subsequent interviews, he has taken lengths to explain that he now works to actively exclude them. There were no visible signs of white-nationalist members at the Seattle rally."​

"If people want to have the stage in San Francisco, they better have a message that contributes to people's lives rather than find ways to hurt them," Lee said. "That's why certain voices found it very difficult to have their voices heard today."

Gibson later spoke in suburban Pacifica with a handful of supporters that included African Americans, a Latino and a Samoan American. Several said they support President Donald Trump and want to join with moderates to promote understanding and free speech.

Patriot Prayer leader Joey Gibson also canceled his San Francisco “Freedom Rally,” citing concern for his group's safety after CA. Rep Nancy Pelosi smeared his event, calling it a white supremacist rally. He made the announcement in a Facebook video Friday afternoon.

"We've decided that tomorrow really seems like a set-up, it doesn't seem safe," Gibson said, blaming what he called "rhetoric" from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and others who have called the event a white supremacist rally.

"We're not going to go down there. We're not going to have a rally at Crissy Field," Gibson said.​

Gibson, however, told the SF Chronicle that he would be “dropping in an out of downtown Berkeley all day in hopes of talking to normal people.”

The counter-protesters, meanwhile, said in a statement early Sunday that "we fully intend to move forward with (the Rally Against Hate)" on the university campus despite calls by the university police department for people to stay away for safety reasons.

It's pretty bad when the National Leadership begins virtue-signalling to the violent elements of their base in order to shut down the exercise of free-speech rights by people they deem as their political opposition.

No lie is too big not to be told. Lies and violence are Nancy's preferred path back to the office of The Speaker of the House.
