And ONE Silly-Ass Thread (In Moderation)

DCL

Remember "Short People?" (short people got.. no reason to... short people got..) I have the 45
And, Pat Boone(?) "You Light Up My Life"

Had it forever!

My mom bought this album for me when I was about 10 years old, are you ready?

"The Chipmonks"....Christmas Album

Yea thats right folks.I still play it.
My granddaughter loves it.

Alllllllllllllllviiiiiiiiiiinnn

Damn you DCL,now you got me looking threw all these old moldy smelling albums,Ahhh heres one for ya:
"The Hagers"....Motherhood,Apple Pie,& The Flag!
"NOW if that don't sound American, nothing does!!"

I forgot I had that album! :D

I got Alvin and the Chipmunk's Christmas album when I was six years old. Still have it somewhere too, though I don't have a turntable anymore.

"Short People" and "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" don't count, because they're actually good songs. One is a parody and the other was just recently voted (by Billboard was it?) as the greatest Rock and Roll song of all time. So even if you hate them they're generally considered to be good, so they don't count.

I also have "The Night Chicago Died", which is one of those pretty good bad songs. ("Then the door flew open wide, And My Daddy stepped inside, And he kissed my Momma's face, And he dried her tears away....Sha-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na...")

The Shatner stuff is great, vintage bad stuff, but it was awful when it first came out, and never went to number one or anything. I mean there's plenty of crap out there. It think that to win this little impromptu contest you have to have bought something you and everyone esle thought was kick ass when you were younger, and you're embarrassed as hell to own it now. Something like "Kung Fu Fighting" or "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus (two of mine).

I still have my turntable from 1975! I'm hanging onto that sucker. Not that this is a terrible record, but I recently got "Captain Fantastic" on CD. What a joy to hear that album again, AND without all the scrtaches and skips of my 33 that have been burned into my brain after some 25 odd years of playing the damn thing on that machine.

Anyway, I still think "Billy Don't Be A Hero" and anything by Cher are pretty much the most emabarrasing things I've heard her so far.

Wait a minute -- is that Barry Manilow's "One Voice" I see in my collection...?

Somewhere at my mother's house is a 45 of the theme from "The Greatest American Hero." Remember that show? Something about flying high...Can't recall the name of the song.

Believe it or not,
I'm walking on air,
I never thought I could feel,
So free.

Flying away on,
A wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?

Believe it or not, it's just me...

I loved that show. Robert Culp rules.

Hey, Vixen, wasn't that Debbie Boone who did "You Light Op My Life"?

I'll have to scour my collection and see what potential it has for this little competition.

Remember those comedy singles that came out in the 70s? You know, where people would ask questions and the answers would all be snippets of popular songs? I have one called "Superfly Meets Shaft". Where the HELL did I get THAT from?

"Playground in My Mind" is another winner I have in my little box of 45s.

Who the hell was I? Tell me? Someone?

(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction wasn't meant to be included on the list. It was a Devo reference. I was talking about their cover of the Stones classic.

Oh God I own most of these 45's but I think the worst is-Yummy Yummy Yummy-I got Love in my Tummy-damn-I am not even sure who sings it-now I gotta go look it up-thanks Dixon!

I put the album on tape, that way I could edit some of the scratches, and noise out.

Last year I upgraded my stereo, but I bought each component at different times. So when I went in to buy the turntable, the salesmen,(about 20 years old)looked at me and said,
"Man you still play them old things?"..and I had to laugh.

Theres still some good music out there on albums, that will probably never make it on CD

Get down boogy ougy fever

Hey DCL you never said you had to once believe they were the "bees knees" (age appropriate reference). I just collect them for a grin and to play when my neighbors get too loud.

It's my thread and I can make up the rules as I go along. Observe. New rule, all the records must have at least one skip in them and the lyrics must include the words "Baby", "Fire" and/or "Muskrat".

Man and people think I am a Brat!!

Well I see how you are DCL. Remind me never to play card games with you.....
