Cordelia was kind enough to review a poem I wrote. She said:
Now the actual poem is of no importance, but it is less than 350 keystrokes long. I have an image of several bags of protoplasm moving about a building in California in response to 350 fingerstrokes made a few days earlier by another sack of protoplasm several time zones away.
Perhaps this is trite, but that image amazes me. The information density in a short series of abstract symbols causes laughter then real physical movement in a different time and geographical location. It strikes me that this is one of the core symptoms of poetic expression - an information density that triggers a response far in excess of the apparent stimulus.
Now I realize that I have just described the effect of “poetic imagery” in a long winded fashion, but I feel that there is more here than a discourse on symbols or semiotics.
Cutting to the chase:
This thread is dedicated to exploring ... the poetic implications of Cordelia’s giggle.
No rules this time.

I giggled aloud when I read Dark Feel in Pink Chiffon, enough to have the rest of the household run to see why I was giggling...
