My wife and I are having Anal sex more often. Not a lot, but a few times a month.

Are there any long term problems associated with more frequent anal sex? Any Dangers i should be aware of?

Just wondering.

Not really. As long as you don't just ram into her, tear her or make her bleed, you should be ok.

Use lots of lube. Forget the stories where the guy just shoves it in with no preparation.

Using a condom will decrease your risk of getting UTIs, which are less common in men, but still a risk with anal nonetheless.

Either way, both you and your partner should pee immediately after sex to flush out bacteria that may lurking in, or at the entrance of, your urethras.

Safety has a lot to do with how you do anal. If you use plenty of a proper lube, work within the receiver's comfort zone, abstain if there are any residual problems, practice good hygiene (e.g. washing, not using toys that can't be sterilized w/o a condom) and don't do risky things like ass-to-pussy and ass-to-mouth, you should be just fine. :)

I agree with all of the above but need to add 1 more thing.

Do NOT go from virginal sex to anal sex or visa versa. You will need to clean yourself before entering another orifice.

have fun!

There's nothing wrong with going from vaginal to anal. Additional lube is usually required (and you mustn't get it from the vagina more than once; once something comes into contact with something that's been in the ass, it shouldn't touch the vagina, cuts, lube, etc.) , but it's not like the vagina is bacteria-laden and can cause an infection in the ass. The problem is going from the ass to the vagina or mouth. In both cases, that could cause a very serious infection.

I was told by a doctor that it is much worse going from ass to vagina but is not healthy to do vagina to ass either without the proper cleansing.

I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that.

Most of us have gone from vaginal to anal sex (with a cock, fingers or toys) many times and had no ill effects. I've never heard credible sources warn about v-to-a activity, and common sense dictates that just about anything that lives in the pussy wouldn't survive for long in the harsh environment of the ass. I suppose there's a possibility of some infections spreading from the pussy to ass, but I've never heard of such a thing happening.

I think if we asked a bunch of health pros and sex educators, the vast majority would say there's little-to-no risk of problems from v-to-a activity. Doctors have given me bad advice in the past; after all, they're human, so they make mistakes and don't know everything.

Also wondering about the long term....

Someone said She will be in Diapers by the time she is 50.

Any truth to that?

Not having anal a few times a month.

With a significant amount of rough anal play/stretching, there can be some damage to the sphincter muscles, which can cause bowel incontinence. We're not talking about a normal amount of anal play or stretching here, though; I'm thinking more in the league of anal gangbangs, porn stars and people who put monstrous objects into their asses.

You have anal a few times a month, you use plenty of lube and stay within the boundaries of what's comfortable for her, right?

If so, you should be fine. If you're terribly concerned, talk to her doctor or a sex educator about what's safe and what's not. They've heard it all before. :)

Anal sex

Im sorry, i dont agree, you see my wife doesnt want to do that kinda thing anymore, even though I had been doing some extensive research because i am very interested in it still. True, the size of the object has alot to do with comfort;especially because the anus does not produce natural lubrication like the vagina does, so extra lube is needed. When you use vaginal lube then afterwards go to the anus, it simply isnt good enough for full lubrication, thus it can cause irritation and rawness. Water based lubricant such as KY jelly tends to dry out too fast causing the same problems unless more is put on constatly, oil based are better. never use saliva or vaginal lube, they dry out the fastest. And ts beter if you start small then lead to big, helps to stretch the opening allowing for less discomfort and less chance for ripping. If itdoes rip, it can be ery difficult to heal quickly.

Also, anal sex can lead to anal fissures (rips) or even tears, which could lead to infections, discomfort, even to incontinence.

As for ass to vagina dangerous and should be avoided. That can definitely cause problems, bladder infections (ecoli found in the rectum), pain, etc.

A small percentage of women actually do enjoyanal sex, however if done correctly, it can be enjoyable for the majority of woman who dont like it.

I've been doing anal sex with my gf for a long time and had no prob going from hole to hole. Be kind of inconcenient anyway to keep rushing off to wash! maybe no probs cos regular partners, never had a problem with her or any other partners, so although I hear probs infections sometimes happen, never with us. Always been with regular partners tho, maybe different with casual sex. We are always clean too, wouldn't do hole to hole if it got messy if you know what i mean! As for long term, we've found no probs with normal anal sex even a few times a week, but putting huge things in ass or gang bangs or fisting etc has obvious risks.

May I stand up for the small percentage of women who enjoy anal. Is that women the world over or just the ones you have slept with? ;)

Silicone lube is definitely the best. Start with fingers and then once you have your cock in there start slow and build gradually.

There is minimal risk of long term damage if you are considerate and sensible. If George Michael and Elton John can get around without incontinence pads there is hope for your missus.

Personally I enjoy it just as much when he lubes up, slams in and attempts to fuck me into a bloody pulp while pulling my hair and paddling my ass. What percentage of women does that make me I wonder? :D

You say it like it's a bad thing...

Not our shyslave, when she says 'perverted' it's a positive affirmation.

Can I deduce that our percentage has just got slightly bigger? We must be up to 0.001% now, that's practically mainstream right?

Pardon

I didnt mean it to sound condescending. Actually, (as I embarass myself lol)
my sexual experience is limited to one person, my wife. However, anal sex has always interested me, and so with all the hearsay that was gong on, I wanted to find out if it would be a safe experience. And as i read a few books and notes on the web and listened to Loveline on KROQ( not the best source im sure), it simply seemed as though most people didnt enjoy it. But I felt that it was because it had been performed improperly when they had tried. by all accounts, it shouldnt be something unenjoyable, i see it just as another realm of sexuality if a little taboo, so I think that if done correctly (whatever that means to you), anal sex can be very enjoyable and exciting experience.

As for picking sides, I plant my flag proudly with the non-derogatory meaning of pervs. :)

okokok i read all this about what lube to use and so far me and the mrs are not getting the touch down so she got some liquid gold but how the hell should she use it i know you breath it in but how do you do it ???surly you do not just sniff the bottle and bingo game on

At the top of this board is a thread called the Blank Manual. Sometimes referred to as the BM. Not my choice though. If you peruse that, you'll find all kinds of useful links to all kinds of threads here on Anal, Oral and whatever else you care to enjoy.

Just to help you find it, Click Me and you'll be well on your way to learning damn near everything there is to know about damn near anything.

Slightlyfaster, Liquid Gold is a name for "poppers" or amyl nitrate, which is a drug that relaxes the smooth muscles (such as those in the rectum and vagina), lowers the blood pressure, dilates blood vessels and can have other effects. They can interact with some health conditions and have some negative consequences, so be sure you know what you're doing if you try them. Poppers have become particularly popular among gay men, but some straight people use them too, obviously. You can read an article on the effects, legality and risks here on Wikipedia.

The thing is, if someone NEEDS drugs of any kind or something like a numbing cream (e.g. "Anal-eze") to get through anal, they're likely not doing it correctly and could be doing some serious damage. Pain is the body's way of telling us something's wrong in most cases, and if you dull the senses, you could be doing (more) serious harm without knowing it. Drugs, alcohol and anesthetic products are never a substitute for good technique, and you should get that technique down before adding a couple of drinks, poppers, or something else that's fairly "light", if you're so inclined.

Using plenty of a good lube and the right techniques should lead to painless and safe anal play/sex. A lot of us prefer silicone lube because it's very slick, doesn't dry out, stain really, promote infection and is safe to use with condoms (which are always a good idea with anal).

Check out the Anal section of "The Blank Manual" sticky (also found at the top of How To) to learn about or brush up on techniques for a pain-free experience.
