Good luck everyone....we will sit this one out...no exodus this time...

Things are looking pretty battered from Frances and Charlie,
looks like we will get Jeane here as well......
I know people with their roofs still damaged waiting for the roofers who have a waiting list 3 months long...they say call back in three months! "But can't you put me on your list?" "Call me back in three months!' Down trees are common piles of refuse lining the streets......along the intracostal waterway sunken boats are common, shorelines lined with flotsam of docks, boats and piers......reports of flesh eating bacteria infecting those who wade in the Indian River Lagoon trying to salvage, this from a local doctor.
The bodies of Cory's Shearwaters, a pelagic bird that summers in the Atlantic ocean, littering the beaches for hundreds of miles.
The gasoline stations still have not caught up with demand empty tanks still common.
GeeZ! Enough is enough!

Gee, what can I say. You have painted a vivid picture of the situation. Hopefully Jeane will miss you and people can start rebuilding their lives.

Went to Walmart to replenish supplies.......everyone was grinning through clenched teeth while waiting in long lines with groceries piled high. Surprisingly not too many rude people. Amazing how quickly the shelves were being cleared.......I wandered down an aisle and noticed the difference 20 minutes makes.....Whew! I got my cans of soup! <clutching them to my heart> Anyone tries to take them will loose an appendage!.......he...he........come on.....I am not talking sexual organs.......just a finger or hand maybe an ear.

Good to see you done_got old.

John Roberts, I have finally figured out the problem. Mother Nature just loves fucking with those idiots on the weather channel. They were talking just a couple of days ago about how Ivan was done, and Jeanne was moving out to sea to blow herself out.

I will be keeping you all in my prayers and I pray that you don't get hit again. Please be safe to everyone in Florida.

Keeping you all in my prayers. I have relatives down there now. They are down there to help with the insurance claims and some to help with getting things back to normal. So batten down the hatches and hopefully, Jeane will pass you by this time and ya'll can get back to normal before the first of the year!

Thanks all,
If I do not get online again, busy day tomorrow finishing up hurricane preparations clearing the yard of anything that could be airborne.......in other words bring the entire yard into the house....we usually have critters piggybacking in on the plants.....little tree frogs and lizards.........
um......if I do not get on again.....didn't I just say that?.....muttering.....I have turned manic.......

Good luck to all my Florida friends......Kim, Soron, Peppermint Patty, and all....................and good luck to you non floridians as well....

No doubt those steerage winds are screwing with their self confidence.......

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers Missingmeds....Looking like we will get the brunt of it from the last few forecast models.....If we do not loose phone and power I will come online.

Take care. :rose:

Thank you mam.....I will take all the prayers I can get.....we are close enough to get the eye if it nudges just a little north of the projection.....Hugs and kisses to you Toni.

Waiting

All preparations have been done......just waiting now.....Jeanne will likely be a category four storm now......if it drifts north of the forecast I and mine will be in for it........the decision to weather it in a shelter will be limited to this afternoon.....once this evening sets in it will be too unsafe to move about........the winds are picking up in the last few hours.....by late afternoon tropical storm strength winds will be here.......

Wind gusts of 115 mph are predicted for tonight.......Whew! I took the backscreen door off of the hinges because it does not latch properly....would have driven me mad listening to it bang all night.
There will be enough noises in the night.........the wind is already shrieking through the powerlines in the back yard.

John Roberts are you going to ride the storm out at home?

Yep, we still have power should loose it soon though....the wind gusts are pretty impressive outside.....
We have a pretty sturdy home here.

The winds were moaning as I did my final look around before dark. A dark butterfly fluttered in the wind, as if an omen of the stormy night to come.....later as the winds grew stronger than tropical force in strength my observations became timid peeks out the front door....to step out in the tempest was to seek harm, I could see shadows airborne in the night passing quickly by...the higher gusts roaring about the house.........it is 9:19PM the worst is yet to come.

It is 10:46PM now Still have power......phones are still up amazingly.
Bye for now yall....I anticipate the loss of phone and electrical service anytime now.. Time for our hurricane party for our little boy just to lighten up the mood for him......icecream and cupcakes......and latter a pint of ale for dad....:) I wish I had bought two to be honest with you.

I got cousins down in Coral Gables, so I will be praying
and keeping them in my thoughts as well as everyone
down in Florida.......please be safe! I think this is the
worst hurricane season in years--at least in my lifetime
anyway.

Be safe! *huggies*

I hope they fared well Jen, back online the power people got our power back on in less than 16 hours.....God bless them and the emergency service people......a shelter for special needs people started loosing it's roof last night in the worst of the tempest.....they did not have to move them far, one block but they moved around 350 people in the middle of all that fury......God bless them all.......an evening of listening to the roaring wind sounding like trains, sometimes like a jet, just waiting for that noise that tells you your home is failing......picking out safe rooms for this eventuality or that.........I could not sleep every gust brought me straight up in my chair......hearing hysterical accounts of people whose homes are coming down around them leaving them exposed to the tempest......
The word is cadaver dogs being brought in a prefab home community that was devestated just south of me.I have a friend who lives there.......
I do not usually pray....but my heart is with all the victims of these storms and their families.......

I was fortunate....no damage except a cracked window, my parents had their home compromised with the wind forcing water in and collapsing a ceiling.....they were not there thank god......
Hugs and kisses to all and good thoughts

Good to have you back with us John Roberts. I am glad that you are all safe and sound.

I really thought I would be off line for weeks, the Power companies have their hands full with all these storms......it is good to be back and without major damage......Whew!
Thanks for your support......:) :rose:
