An odd question for erotic writers

Do you, umm, touch yourself when writing?

What I mean is are you an erotic writer that just pounds away at the keyboard in total conentration to write a story or are you so excited by what you are writing that sometimes you have to type one-handed?

I guess since I like to write about my current fantasy I am very turned on...not just at what Im writing but at the fantasy that I am picturing. So I guess that puts me in the latter catagory.

Come out of the closet if you dare.

Am I the only one? Am I odd? hmm....

Not while writing ... but sometimes before writing, sort of an idea test drive, and sometimes after if I get 'het up.' I need both hands on the keyboard to keep up with the pace of the story ;)

I'm one of those odd people, I suppose. My stories don't turn me on all that much. Even after I've written them. I don't write about my fantasies or my personal sex life, either, so that's a big strike against it.

No offense intended, but you can usually tell a one-handed story because they aren't very good. They're repetitive, the dialogue is often contrived if it's there at all, the details that make it hot are missing, proper paragraphing is non-existent, and when sex actually happens it's a short blow-by-blow laundry list with redundant dialogue or a lot of capitals. The author is too caught up in his or her own arousal to think the story through enough to consider a reader that s/he doesn't know, the parts of writing that require full concentration, or judicious detail.

It's quite possible that I'm too picky when it comes to what I read, but I reserve the right to be that way.

both the hands, for sure

I write with my brain, not with my... err... body. I really don't get aroused much when I'm writing.

I think I go along with KM and DP. Writing is a craft based mainly on persperation with a wee smidgen of inspiration. For me the inspiration stage is at the very early "what if?" stage of a stories development. At this time I probably have not written a word, I am creating a situation and the bare bones of the characters in my head. Sometimes at this stage I am creating fantasies

At the next stage they are in my head, on a notepad as disjointed jottings. - By now the fantasy stage has passed, I am into the long grind of writing the story.

The final stage writing the story, then the rereading, correcting and polishing are sheer hard work. The only fantsising I do relates to:
(i) Pressing delete and never to do such a foolish thing as writing a story again.
(ii) More drastic, kicking the pc to pieces.
(iii) Getting drunk and forgetting the whole idea.
or (iv) Suicide might be preferable to having the itch to write.

Then I finish the story and until the next one I feel elated.

Non of the above should be taken to signify I would want to get rid of my drive to write - I am just trying to explain my mind-set at various stages.

Now go off and read some of my stories, and I would like some votes please.

And oh, hehe, i do try and use both hands occasionally....gots to Capatilize sometimes!

...guess i am an odd one...

Not as odd as you might think.

I don't get aroused when I'm writing, although I sometimes do when I'm editing. I think it's the difference between thinking up the story and then actually reading the story.

I am new to writing stories and so far, while I do get turned on seeing in my mind what my characters are doing, or getting in to, I don't use or abuse myself. I read other writers stories for that!:D I find that I want to go on with story and see where it leads while I am writing and sometimes, trying to find 'that' right passage or way to describe what is going on in the story makes it so that, well, it's impossible for me to be 'that' turned on! I will admit that I wondered that same thing though, before I started to write my own stories!;)

I may be the exception to the rule-- I do get turned on when I write erotica. I usually write the kind of stories that I'd like to read, stories based on my own fantasies and twisted desires, so when I get going in front of the keyboard, yeah, I get going other ways too.

I don't actually get to the point where I type one-handed. but if certain urges get too strong, I find I'm too distracted to write. There's a balancing act there.

I have pleasured myself while reading stories I've posted. Is that the ultimate act of self-indulgence? Maybe if I had a mirror by my side...ooh...yeah...a mirror...ooh, yeah...I could wear that tight T-shirt I look so hot in...yeah...baby...

The imagination is the highest kite we can fly! So who needs to touch?

Apart from scatching ones nose from time to time , no I don't touch myself when writing. I need all my fingers on the keys to get the words out as fast as possible, and the pictures in my head onto the screen .

When I get the type and talk program running, at speed then well maybe;) But for now its all hands to the keys:p

I don't get turned on by my own writing. Mentally stimulated, perhaps, but I don't get hot and bothered. It's kind of like listening to my own voice on a tape recording. I'm sure it's fine, but to me, it's just weird.

I feel some stirings myself

When I first posted my story, I felt sort of excited, more so because it was me writing it. When I re-read what I wrote, I was like, "wow, I have talent!" I felt a bit horny though, but that's only after i wrote it. During writing, I had to edit, and re-edit my work.

I don't get turned on by my writing either, and I don't masturbate while at the computer. However I do some of my writing after masturbation, when a really hot idea pops into my head and I want to take full advantage of my sexual creativity. Other times I just have to use my imagination = )

No, I do not "touch" myself while writing. For the most part, my stories are already written mentally before I even touch the keyboard. Some aspects might change as I go along, but I've thought the whole story through before hand. I may get aroused during the thinking part, and do some masturbating then. But usually by the time I've started to actually write the story, it's "old hat" to me - sometimes to the point where I have difficulty believing any one else could think of the story as arousing!

Out Of My Closet!

Yes, I do! Most often, I 'touch' myself by scratching my head. Sometimes, I use both hands! There have even been cases when I have banged my head against the keyboard.

Whatever works for you, use it! Just remember to edit up after you're done.

And don't forget: Sticky fingers cause sticky keys.

Typing with one hand slows me down 90%. I dont see HOW people can do it and get any work done.

Seems KM requires another soapy hosing?

I do some of my best writing when I've done this, yes I do often touch myself while writing. All depends though on what stage of the story I'm in.

I typically will bring myself to the brink of cumming, then post to my hottest threads (SRP). This results in some hot posts, IMHO.

Oh-oh I do I do!

Okay, I don't do the one handed typing thing, but I visualize when I write and when I'm writing a hot sex scene, I'm usually aroused.

Although, this is never the case when I edit.

thanx...

It's been quite an array of comments!

Aside from KM's assanine, egotistical, thoughtless, shallow and just plain stupid comment I got a kick out of them all!

So it takes me a little longer to finish a story...doesn't mean it's gonna be bad...

funny...i dont remember a check box on the story submission form for one-handed writing, it's amazing how KM can tell...i guess after 12,000 posts you know everything...

Why do assume that my opinion comes from having a lot of posts? Perhaps my opinion comes from elsewhere, like experience?

But don't listen to me. Check the other professionals who actually get paid to write pornography. You know, what you're not. They all say the same thing. Fingers on the keyboard, not on the genitals.

Why? Masturbation is a selfish thing and so is writing. You can't do two the things that require inner concentration and expect to write well.

I'm not going to lie to you. I don't care what you'd prefer to hear or how much candycoating you need to feed your ego. I'm not going to lie and I'm not going to prevaricate.

Besides I didn't say your stories were that way, did I? Your stuff is consistent. I couldn't tell if you did them one handed or not. But that's all I'll say. People who prefer the ego-stroking lies to someone's actual opinion are a waste of critique time.

Just so you know, it's against the Forum rules to post someone else's personal information.

I consider this information highly personal.

Thanks for being a useless dinglewhacker with nothing to offer but jumping on the old let's-be-popular! bandwagon. I must admit that you're doing a good job of ingratiating yourself with the locals. Picking on me is a good in to the group.

Why don't you tell Wifeseducer your honest opinion about one-handed stories. Or do you prefer not to look like the bad guy when you can make me do it for you?

Please explain to me what personal information I posted that you yourself haven't already offered in more than one other post. If it is highly personal information (and what on this forum isn't?) why did you post it in the first place?

There is no need to sling nasty words at someone. If you don't understand the meaning behind a post, please ask before you jump to the conclusion it has mean intentions.

Did you not have your bran this morning, sweetie?
I had mine.:)

I'd like to say that I can write, smoke, take a sip of coffee, and wank at the same time, but I'm not talented like that.

No, I do not get aroused while I'm writing. I'm far too busy looking up from my dictionary.

I agree a lot with what jon said about his perticular process of getting a story out of his head. My experience is very similer, exsept I don't go as far as he does in self torture during the final stage. That says a lot about my beginner status.

I also agree with what harold said about the difference between writing and reading. I hear he's got a lot of answers. :)

But still, I do not get off from my own stories. Someone else's story, now that's... :p
