Iran's state media has published a porno. Doubt it? Here it is:

If you don't understand what happens in that scene, I don't blame you. Let me explain.

A man is alone with a woman and wishes to have a conversation with her (the subject is not important). The woman says that is Haram (sinful) but the sharia has provided a way to make it Halal (okay).

She gives a chocolate to the man and asks him to give it back after one hour, as her dowry. This practice is called "Temporary marriage" in the Shia branch of Islam.

He does that, then they say a few verses in Arabic in order to conclude their temporary marriage.

After that the sexy part begins: She opens the front side of her veil. That's just too erotic, Isn't it?

Iranians have been mocking this scene since it was published. It shows that the governmental ideology is trying to reduce any relationship between men and women, including and especially marriage, to prostitution.

Many of those middle eastern/Islamic countries are so brutally repressive as far as sex, women, and freedom of expression that I would seriously rather live in North Korea than live there. At least in North Korea, citizens have more freedom. (which is, let's be clear, still very little freedom compared to most places.)

And believe it or not, I have met certain posters on this very forum- yes, on an erotic fiction website, who would wish that United States was more like that.

I lived on Cyprus in the Mediterranean for several embassy tours and flew there frequently from Tehran, Riyad, Amman, and Cairo. When I did so, there always were Arab couples getting on the plane with the woman hidden in a tent with veils. As soon as the plane hit the Mediterranean coast, though, the women would go to the head and come back dressed to the sexy nines for their secular vacation in Cyprus.

When I worked in Saudi women would geton the plane in Europe dressed to the nines and just before we entered Saudi airspace disaapear to the toilet and come back in full regalia. When we left the Kingdom it happened in reverse.

Saying that, I have also been in Europe and Thailand and seen how Arabs behave and dress when outside their own borders.

Working in Egypt I spent some time with a couple of local ladies, who were both very good at belly dancing wearing the full costume. :D

I served in the British Army in Malaya, Yemen and Cyprus in the late 50's - 60's and it was very noticeable that the repression of females in terms of clothing was much less then. Beirut, 'the Paris of the East' was the most Westernised of all, with Urban Iran and Turkey not too far behind.

Then came the insidious influence of Wahabism exported and heavily funded by the primitives that run Saudi Arabia. This has infected Sunni Islam everywhere. At the same time the Shia clerics appealed to their peasant base, eventually taking power in Iran.

On the back of this upsurge in conservative Islam, "populist strong men" have emerged as leaders, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Saudi are examples. They enrich themselves, repress the educated people and threaten to kill their rivals. The ignorant masses are no better off but love it.

Parallels in the West are obvious. Fundamentalists of all creeds are playing the same game.

Don't expect the repression to lessen any time soon.
