At a yard sale not too long ago I picked up a book for $.50. Only after I arrived at home did I find that this book was a proof of a book that never made it into print.

Well I sat down and read it. It was interesting to say the least, one of the best commentaries of the Guadacanal Campaigns I have ever read.

"Victory at Guadacanal"
Robert Edward Lee
Copyright 1981

I think I'll keep this one in my collection.

According to Amazon it was printed by Novato of Ca. in 1981 and reprinted by Zebra in 1985. Some copies are still available.

Some of these old books have interesting lives. I have one the author self-published twice, then sold to a commercial publisher. My copy is the 1st edition of the self-published run.

I find plenty of 10 cent books, for re-sale at the local library, that are worth $20 to $150. A few I get for free at the library.
