Hey all,
I'm new to this board, but not to Literotica. The vast majority of authors here are tremendous; I definitely enjoy reading all of your works. I'm a 21-year-old college student and would like to start writing fiction, preferably erotic in nature of course.

Anyway, I have a stupid "noob" question---I want to write a story about two lovers, but one dies too young and returns to her heartbroken lover for a tryst on a cold winter night. I know this type of story has been done before (well, too), but I would still like to give it a shot. Is this too difficult for a rookie like myself? I would really appreciate any and all honest feedback.

Great story, Dingus!!!

Whew-
I just read the first part. I, uh, will probably be busy for the rest of the evening as I enjoy the rest of your story, but thanks so much! I can't wait to get started on my own ghost story, although I will consider it a success if it's half as enjoyable a read as yours. Thanks again, man.

Thank you very much

I appreciate your kind words Raoul. I am sure you can do it justice with your own story. Good Luck!

First of all, welcome to the hangout. Grab a chair and hang out. :)

Second of all. Go right ahead! Plunge right in. It seems like you have a good idea for a story. And I'd say that the theme is not too complicated for a new writer. I think that sometimes it is easier to write a somewhat different story instead of the regular Boy-Meets-Girl kind of thing as a first story, because then you won't have to struggle with finding original angles or plot twists to keep it interresting.

I'll be waiting for the spook.

Is an erotic ghost story too hard for a first story?
Is anything too hard for a first story?
I don't think so. In the first place, what do you have to
lose? It's not like Laurel was paying for some stories
and you'd not be able to put food on your table if she
didn't like it.
In the second place, the first thing a new writer must do
to progress is to find his own voice. So, write what you
want to write; newcomers are in much more danger of
rewriting platitudes than they are of playing in too hard
a league.
Go for it!

Hi Raoul,

Will you let us know when you have finished your story? Sounds good. ;)

Hi, Raoul. Welcome to Lit. This is a good place for you to ask a question like that. There is another place, something like this one, called "General Board". If you had gone there and said you were new, the writers who hang out there would have cursed and reviled you and acted like you were a trespasser. I don't know why they act like that.

The only way to know if it's too complicated is to try it. There are some authors here with many posts who wouldn't be able to do an erotic ghost story. There are some new authors who could probably do a bang up job on one. Writing is as individual as the people who write. If you feel the urge then I would say you have already answered your question. How well you do with it is probably tied more to your enthusiasm than your skill, at least thats my experience. You can learn how to correct mistakes in grammar, punctuation etc. You cannot learn how to want to write, that either comes or it dosen't.

Best of luck,

-Colly

Hi Raoul, just go for it! And post a link when it's up.

You may well have already made a start on it by now, if so, how's it going? I agree 100% with Colly, she 'talks' a lot of sense. An erotic ghost story is just like any other; you can either pull it off, or you can't. There's only one way to find out and, going by your attitude, you are already well on your way.

All the best!
