Wall Street Journal online reports that there are now 7.5 million millionaire households in the U.S..

How many households are there in the U.S.? This number seems incredibly high to me.

This kind of reminds me of when I was teaching at a very predominately black school and asked my 12th grade Government class what % of the population they thought was black in America. Most thought it was over 50%.

Well ... if you use a rough number like 300 mill for bodies in the US, use the perinnial favorite 2.3 kids per family, and flat out fudge saying all households have two parents ... that makes about 57 million households.

Try the census records for 2000. Might give you a better guess.

Hey if the premises are going to be guesses the conclusion might as well be as round as possible.

As long as the globes of her tail part along the seam, her head is face down, and you're at ramming speed, why not?

78.6% of which are millionaires apparently.

7.5 million? 20%? Must mean that there is quite a few making under 30,000 a year. Mind you, the average household in Canada makes about 29,000 a year.

According to the census records for 2000, there are 105,480,101 households in the US.

So that's roughly 7% of the US households are millionaires.

Smaller number than I thought it would be, actually.

Works out to one millionaire household per 14.06 households. So look at your nearest 13 neighbors. If none of them are millionaires, it must be you.

Go down the street a few miles, and ALL of them are millionaires.

They tip the scales for my area.
