Late last night, or early this morning (depending on how you view these things,) I was woken by the sound of one of my cats coughing up a hairball. I didn't hesitate, I climbed out of bed, found the offending results and cleaned them up. Ahhhhhhhh, the joys of being in the thrall of cats.

After I was done I crawled back into bed. I stretched out and started relaxing when I was joined by one of our Feline companions. Magi climbed up onto my belly then crawled up my body until he was resting on my chest. I could tell he was the culprit by his breath. (Eewwwww)

Magi knows I don't like him or any of the other cats on my chest as I try to sleep so he soon changed positions. He slid off me and curled up on my pillow after giving my face a quick lick or two.

When I woke up later this morning he was still there. His eyes were open as I rolled over and I found myself face to face with him.

All today he has been close to me. It's almost as though he is appologising to me for waking me last night. Right now he is sprawled on my lap soaking up the scritches and scratches as I type.

His sisters seem a bit jealous though so I get the feeling I will be joined by more than one furry little kid in bed tonight.

:D He's just trying to tell you what a good thrall you are.

Well, one of the things that woke me up was Ziba, the evil Aby-tabby, who was licking my face and neck. Of course what she was really after was the silver cross pendant I wear around my neck. She has been trying to remove and eat this penant for four years. She is a cat of few ideas, but she sticks to them.

The weather has finally turned to winter here. It is cold, wet and snowed on the higher ground last night.

I woke up pinned by cats. Juliet, the Burmese Princess, was behind my knees as always. Randall was on hubby's feet, Pantene was on my feet (very rare for her to take to the bed). Harry and Billy were on the boys' beds. And Patch the Wonderdog was IN one of the boys' beds.

Yep, winter's finally here.

Yes, we can tell when it's winter around here, because the cats come upstairs and tuck themselves into the corners of the bed.

Same thing here.

We can also tell when the weather is going to change. The cats get very friendly when they aren't in hiding.

When the temps are going up we always know where to find the cats. They are curled up around the A/C vents.

You must have the kind of vents that are built into the floor.

When it gets hot, our cats just kind of flatten out. Some of them have been known to curl up in the bathroom sink.

In hot weather you can usually find Harry (the longhair) in the shower recess.

Right now the bed is still infested with cats - I have a heated throw rug on top and didn't have the heart to turn it right off this morning, it's on its lowest setting and is a cat magnet.

When Ziba, the evil Aby-tabby, ate four feet of blind cord which then had to be removed surgically, she was put in a convalescent cage with a heating pad on the bottom. She thought that was just dandy, and when we brought her home, she crawled onto my son's bed, where there was a heated mattress pad, and slept there for hours. She never looked back. Ever after, if you got out a heating pad for cramps or your back or something, she was right on it. When our old heating pad ceased to function and I brought home a new one, she assumed that I had brought it home for her.

Years ago (long before children) I had a red Burmese who used to travel everywhere with us. He'd come away when we visited our familes. Only problem was my mother wouldn't let a cat sleep in the house, so he had to be locked in the garden shed, with his basket and litter tray and tucker bowls.
He hated it and howled all night, keeping my mother awake (I thought it was poetic justice, but shhhh). Until I bought a hot water bottle and made a claw proof cover for it. Then he was happy.

Awwwww... why don't MY kitties apologize for waking me up? With them, it's more "slave, I'm hungry - what are you going to do about it?":cattail:
