An Apology to Richard49

I just found out that the person R49's been calling "Lance the Moron" for the past number of months...wasn't me.

I thought Richard was flaming me, so in return I said a number of rude flamey things at him here.

It turns out my flames were in vain, so I wish to now apologize to R49 in a public fashion for my mistaken and misdirected insults.

Yes, the other Lance was bouncing around here, trolling Richard, threatening to contact the authorities with dumbass allegations.

And threatening me behind the scenes and , if I remember correctly, publicly with legal action also; holdiing me accountable for some imaginary offenses on the part of Richard and other posters.

Unfortunately, there wsa little anyone could do about him except ignore him or laugh at him.

Intolerance breeds contempt and in this case, delusions.

second if it had been you there would not have been any questions about who I was adressing

third as long as you and I have been on these boards I would hope you know that I do not take shoots behind someones back ... I say what I say ...and when I am wrong apologze

in addition he was the first but not last person that you approved publicly to abuse others ........

I came home from VN 34 years ago today
so that even mindless wonders have protected free speech

Richard while we all surely applaud your military service, you aren't the only one that has served around these boards, so there is no need for you to add that all the time. It makes the majority of us roll our eyes, or at least I know it does me.

I sympathize that you went through vietnam. But, that was 34 years ago as you politely include a lot of the time.

Posts like some here on this thread by you are what alienates you from the vast majority of people that would love to get your perspective and wisdom on some matters but can't put up with your day to day bs.

So while I am glad you finally received payment from the gov. for your disabilities and problems, DO not ever say that you served time to protect my right to free speech because I, Sir, have done that myself. It doesn't make me any better than a person that is a spouse of a military member or hasn't served at all. We all have the freedoms set forth by the constitution and you going to vietnam didn't make a lick of difference over here for free speech.

MissT was explaining to you the concepts of free speech that the site owners adhere to. It is actually a pretty simple concept, one that I thought you would be able to understand.

At least you came home from Viet Nam. My fiance died in Viet Nam, he came home in a body bag. He was 21 years old and the light of my young life.

But enough already, life goes on. Please do not use the VN defense, there are these here who paid the ultimate price.

I do not wish you ill Richard, but we all have our crosses to bear. Yours are no better or worse than others.

You are indeed entitled to your opinion, but do not use military service to justify your behaviour.

I wasn't aware of the Other Lance.

A suggestion: Posting as much real life info as you do about yourself leaves you open to attack from anonymous wierdos here. While I understand the pride you have in who you are and applaud it, don't let it make you vulnerable to attack...so take better defensive measures or be prepared to accept the consequences with the same equanimity as that with which you reveal your life.

As for your service and the comments others have made here: I've said this before, but I'll say it again...my late father served and his physical health was affected by his service. He died before hearing he'd (finally) been awarded a (retroactive) pension to 1949 in 2001.

His military service shortened his life and to some degree affected its quality...so I believe I know where you've been coming from in the year or so I've "known" you.
