Two people named Terry Smith are both travelling for business. They arrive at their hotel. Terry One arrives first, strips, climbs in the shower. Terry Two arrives, a different clerk gives him/her a key...to the same room...

Terry Two does not notice the luggage, because TT is exhaausted, just loosens his/her clothing & collapses on the bed...

Then T One walks naked out of the bathroom...

I know a few Terry's and a few Terri's.
The spelling for the short form of Terrance is Terry. (male)
The spelling for the short form of Teresa is Terri. (female)
Still, it's very plausible that with Terry Smith and Terri Smith, a clerk could get confused and put them in the same room.
Besides, using the different spellings is not only correct, it helps author and reader keep the two apart.

I see them meeting on the plane, joking about their names. Nothing happens, they're both married. But they both think to themselves that they'd like to fuck the other. When Terry gets to the room, he makes a comment to himself that the walls are so thin, he can hear someone showering in the next room.

After fingering herself to an orgasm, Terri dries off, wraps a towel around her and leaves the bathroom. She finds Terry asleep in the bed. She drops the towel and gets in bed with him, happy to find he sleeps in the nude. She cuddles up to him and drifts off to sleep. Then in the morning...

Women sometimes spell their name Terry as well (Terry Farell for instance), so the confusion could be even more plausible.
I like the idea that two complete strangers with the same name would jump each other (and hey, maybe even get married, that would be fun!:D)
