I've seen the Amish, but I don't know much about how they live or think. For myself, I'll settle for stories in which the characters are at least trying for something beyond a hook-up or a one-night stand. The first time I heard the word "hook-up" was about fifteen years ago when I heard it from a friend of mine who taught at a university. The way he described it, I suppose from hearing it from his students, was that it meant that the physical side of sex would start first, and then an emotional connection may or may not have followed. Of course, that's been going on since forever, but it was the first time I heard it defined so succinctly.Anyone here who likes these "sweet, clean and wholesome" romance stories ?
If you are interested here's a short intro.I've seen the Amish, but I don't know much about how they live or think.
Thanks. There have been "Amish romance" books published, but I think they are all written by outsiders. If you are interested here's a short intro.
Most of them are. Jerry Eicher is a former Amish man. Linda Byler is Amish.Thanks. There have been "Amish romance" books published, but I think they are all written by outsiders.
I wonder if the Amish themselves read any of that? I think in Linda Byler's best-known work, the female character leaves the Amish community for at least a while. I admit I had to look that up because I've never heard of Byler. Most of them are. Jerry Eicher is a former Amish man. Linda Byler is Amish.
That's a good question. I am not sure if we can ever find out.I wonder if the Amish themselves read any of that? I think in Linda Byler's best-known work, the female character leaves the Amish community for at least a while. I admit I had to look that up because I've never heard of Byler.
Are they worse with that than the population at large? Do you have any verifiable sources about it?If you want sweet and wholesome...I wouldn't be able to tell you where to find that
But if you want incest and abuse you can go the Amish route.
What do the Amish generally read - if anything - either fiction or non-fiction? I haven't got a clue about that. That's a good question. I am not sure if we can ever find out.
On her YouTube channel, Lynetter Yoder, a Mennomite women and former Amish, mentioned Amish Romance novels once. She said that very little is actually real. I guess that's fiction.
Just google "Amish incest".
Who is that forty-something (?) woman in the video? I'm sure I've seen her in movies and TV shows, but I can't remember her name.Or "Amish Paradise Weird Al Yankovic."
I haven't either. Each person and each community is different. What do the Amish generally read - if anything - either fiction or non-fiction? I haven't got a clue about that.
I think that the more you try to suppress certain human traits, the more it appears in some other form. Sex and religion - always a hot topic.Just google "Amish incest".
