This will be interesting. I don't know if we have ever had a president with Trump's commercial experience. What will this mean for the economy?

In the past, Presidents have mostly been lawyers. In fact, President O was more of an academic lawyer, not one who works for a commercial law firm. His economic advisers all came from academic backgrounds. PHD's with no experience running a company setting policy creating the environment companies need to operate within. :rolleyes:Here they are

This is like... you lay down on an operating table and see your doctor scrubbing up and reading over a book held up by a nurse, "Heart Surgery for Dummies". "Hey Doc, how many heart operations have you done?". He replies, "None, but I read this book and wrote a great dissertation on it".

On the other hand Obama didn't go bust six times and get involved in 3,700 lawsuits. So, the experience you speak of might not have been what anyone with at least half a brain should want in a president.

Tromp was a lousy businessman (he went broke running hotels and casinos during good times!) and a flashy showman. Like Guatemala, we've elected a clown as president, but Tromp's makeup is thinner. Tromp's bidness career was based on bankruptcies, bailouts, defaults, and litigation.

Also note that a country is not a company and citizens are not shareholders. Do you have any examples of businesspeople with no political experience successfully running a country?

No surprise in that. Psychopaths are over-represented among lawyers.

But he was a great Community Organizer...

People seem to forget Obama came from the Great State of Ilinoisistan. 2 people are still doing time from selling his senate seat before it even cooled off.

7.2 Trillion

Geo. Washington?

Had considerable experience in the political agitations leading up to the Revolution; was a delegate to the First Continental Congress; presided over the Constitutional Convention.

Running a country/society/economy isn't even vaguely like running a company/managing a household.

Macroeconomics all adds up to zero.

Macroeconomics doesn't add up at all. Econometrics is supposed to but usually only puts a superficial gloss on flawed arguments.

Macroeconomics adds up.

I do9n't care about your econometrics.

That's just bullsshit.

Everything's political.

The thing about CEO's is that they run companies. Their only motivation is increasing the return on capital investment. They manage their human resources to achieve this at their whim. Companies are populated by employees.

The President is not a CEO. His motivation is preserving the Constitution. He does this with his fellow citizens. Countries are populated by citizens. Citizens are not human resources..

I hope for the sake of all American citizens that your new CEO turns out to be a President.

Don't forget lucky and married well.
Married the richest widow in the colonies. Was the biggest distiller in the colonies. Rode for days to get to and from parties. Screwed slaves and the wives of his subordinates. Reportedly died after being chased out the window into deep snow by a shotgun-wielding husband. But studly Franklin was the real "father of our country". Whammo.
