Australia... the great barrier reef... the women... (except the one that gave birth to Carrot Top) ...

hic... and the beer...

other countries

Scotland: I love the men. They are so gorgeous and rugged. They have attitudes and such pride and devotion to country. They are fierce, yet have a wonderful sense of humor. And the accent, can't forget the accent. OMG and the kilts - those wonderful kilts! Yowza!!

Poland: Gorgeous women, luscious beer, incredible history, and have overcome the odds so many times. It is a beautiful country.

Switzerland: Just plain beautiful everywhere you look.

UK- London, Bitter, Pork Pies, McVitties Plain Chocolate Digestive Biscuits, West End Theater, ... and Dr. Johnon's saying.

Netherlands - Amsterdam, cheese, the Poezenboot.

Phillipines - The bizarre traffic, the heat.

Japan - Where else do they rank the beauty of sites - or declare artisans national treasures - or have trains that stop exactly at the point painted on the platform?

I like Canada...they have quality beer and beautiful women, eh?

I like Japan...lived there for 3 years, and they are a very polite and respectful society.

I like Hong Kong...for 12 years of my life they kept me with an endless supply of matchbox cars.

I like Mexico...at least visiting there occasionally. Latino women are beautiful and there tequila isn't too bad.

Switzerland! I love their military and I wish we could implement a few of their military policies here. I think things would be a lot safer for everyone. However, it'll never happen cause compulsory service just won't fly in this great, wonderful, nation. I also like the mountains and the chocolate.

Germany. They've made so many wonderful contributions to math and science over there. Add that all in with a great countryside, wonderfully friendly natives, and you've got gold.

South Korea. I'm literate so it's not so bad. The kimchee needs to go.

South Africa. President Mbeki can really make a girl feel good about her desultory political system. Despite all the troubles they have down there, they still have some wonderful people. I've really enjoyed the communication that I've had with various South Africans. I even know what a krugerand is even if I can't spell it.

Kenya. Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The government there has been extremely good about preserving these places despite the cost it can sometimes be in money and in terms of "progress." One would wish that all would learn this about their natural areas.

I need to add... woodgi, pixie, sabbathstorm, LGTR. There may be more... I like all those places cause they hold such wonderful people.

LTGR is from the palmetto state, if I'm not mistaken.

Did they secede...again?

:)

Illinois - cause they have a lot of nice Lit members I'd like to meet someday.

I like Canada for it's sandy beaches, warm weather and fruity, blended drinks.

Are you sure its not for its warm beeches, weathered sand, and blended drunken fruits?

Morocco- the food and the utterly medieval feel

England- London is the most cosmopolitan city I have ever visited

Italy- Gotta love those flirty men

Spain- home sweet home

Canada---lots of relatives that live there that know how to cook great food and they are so nice.
I went to England, Scotland, France, Belgium, (West) Germany, and Switzerland several years ago----liked the history there. Being able to see buildings that are older than the US was kinda mindblowing for someone who was 11 at the time.

No, Freya...that is BC. ;)

I like Canada....cause I live here.

Well we have sandy beaches, warm weather for 5 months of the year, and lots of fruits...of all types! I think I need to go to BC!

And I like Canada cuz you live here too, Bratcat!

Since moving to England I have had the good fortune to do a bit of traveling in Europe.

I love living in London, it is such vibrant city, I have made many good friends. I love that they actually sell a procuct in the supermarkets called Mr Brain's Pork Faggots. I love the "mind the gap" announcements. I love that 'bloodymindedness' which can't possibly be explained but if you know what it is, then you know why I admire it. I love the black cabs and the people who drive them. I love shopping in the markets. I love how everyone there can complain for half an hour, then wind it up by saying "Oh well, musn't grumble really" as if that negates all of the complaining they just did. I love how nothing ever really goes out of fashion. I love being able to jump on a train and be out in the country in under an hour, walking amongst the sheep. I hate that the pubs close so damn early.

I've only been to Tuscany in Italy but I think I could die there. One look and you instantly understand why the Italians have produced such passionate opera and art, the landscape is astounding. I loved walking in Florence and thinking about the fact that these were the same streets walked along by Leonardo, Michealangelo, Dante... I loved the wine, the food, the wine, the gorgeous impeccably dressed people, the wine...

In Spain I loved the castles, the wild eyed beautiful people, the bullrings (even though I hate why they're there), the architecture, standing on the beach in Tarifa watching the lights some up in Morocco across the strait, raucous open air tapas joints.

Have been to Paris many times (so easy from London) and there is nothing that I can say about Paris that hasn't already been said better by poets, writiers and singers over the years. If I had to spend every day of the rest of my life sitting along the Seine watching the world go by, I would die a lucky lucky woman. Am hoping next spring to get out and do a 2 week bike tour of the Loire Valley.

Among the more obvious reasons to love Amsterdamn, it is worth noting that it is a fantastic place to meander about, in the short time of the year the weather allows. Haven't had a chance to see any of the rest of the country but I would love to.

I could go on and on. But mainly the thing I love most about the places I've been is the immediacy of history. In the US if there is a building that is over a hundred years old, we're like, Wow! Put up a sign or something! On the other side of the ocean, that's practically yesterday.

I second that. :D

Switzerland: the beautiful cities, the great public transportation, the friendly people.

Italy: the history, the old buildings, the food, the people.

France: the country landscape, the beaches, Paris, the smushed baguette sandwiches from the vendors.

Britain: Pret A Manger, the London parks, the lovely contryside, the people.

Mexico: the food!!! the beaches, the gulf's warm waters, the people.

All I have to add is, what is there not to like about other countries! They are all splendid places with such callipyous cultures, not to mention the languages!!! If I was granted just one wish, I would desire to be fluent in every dialect so I could travel to every corner of the world and perspicuously witness the beauty each has to offer!

Country...I should have added the word Country in the thread title...

I like

Italy: the wine, the women, the food, the architecture, the language, the music, the vistas, and the wine.

France: the wine, the women, the food, and the language

Spain: the wine, the women, the food, the architecture, the language, the food, and Barcelona

Portugal: the wine, the women, the food, the history, the port, and the port.

Australia: the wine, the women, the beer, and the way they use the language.

England: the perversity.

Ireland: stout, the women, the food, the architecture, the poetry, the music, their wonderful native language, and the hospitality.

Sweden: the women, the architecture, and the language.

Norway: the reindeer which make christmas imagery so wondrous.

Canada: the humor, the women, the beer, the arguing over language, and the fact they can share the continent so jovially with such pompous assholes.
