The correct figure is that there are 1.3 homicides(all causes) per 100,000 American children between the ages of 4 and 14 per annum.

The total incidence of deaths for children between the ages of 4 and 14 in the USA is 22 per 100,000 per annum. This compares with an average of between 12 and 16 for most first world democracies. Australia's rate is 16.
