America- love it or leave it

That slogan originated during the Vietnam War. Supposedly if you were against the war you didn't love your country. A Love/Leave It bumper sticker identified the driver as an intolerant slug.

Is that what it is from? I remember it from when I was a kid, but for some reason I don't remember it as being connected to the war. I thought it was aimed at hippies, blacks (civil rights battles back then), anyone who complained about anything in general. Archie Bunker pops into my head for some reason.

By the way, I do love it.
