America, America.....

oh, dear god, that had me feeling embarrassed for them.

:eek::eek::eek:

(hey! Wasn't that scouries in there?)

It is amusing, but whenever I see these, I always wonder how many people get it right compared to the ones that have no clue.

So now I live in Iran, France and North Korea. That's comforting.

And they couldn't even spell New Zealand right in the subtitles.

You wouldn't rather live in France? They make good croissants.

I always wonder with these sorts of things, on at least some of the questions, I think people believe that these are trick questions. The answer is too easy and they assume that there's got to be a catch. Like the woman who answers "there are no sides" when asked "how many sides" to a triangle. I bet she thought it was a trick question. Ditto with the Buddhist Monk question.

Some of these people may think they're being tricked.

Being ignorant is not necessarily the same as being stupid. People should know the things that were being asked, and I expect that most Americans do. If you go about asking 1,000 people the same easy question, and 999 answer it correctly, and one doesn't, and you videotape the one who doesn't know the answer, that means the one person is ignorant, not the thousand.

To answer the question that was asked, I don't think Americans are any more stupid than any other nationality. I do believe however, that Americans tend to be more ignorant of the rest of the world than most nationalities are, which is a pity.
