A lot of the women from these Amazon tribes look very scary indeed. They have these short haircuts, very boyish, with wooden piercings through their nose and lips, and circular designs painted on their bodies. If it weren't for their naked breasts, you could easily be fooled into thinking they were men. Very far from the sort of beauty we are used to in civilized climes.
In that context, one could understand the fear that would come from being hunted and captured by these warrior women, and the forced mating that would follow.
In reality, these tribes are not exclusively female, but that is the common myth, and thus the excuse for this male hunting -to breed.
In my mind, the fantasy works best not as sci-fi, but as a Victorian-era story with a naive and hapless British explorer coming into contact with these tribes for the first time. To the Victorian mindset, the idea of a sexually aggressive female would be both alien and terrifying, as would inter-racial sex. How about this for a solution (being a solution does not necessarily make it a fun story however)
The principle of this amazon society is that it is impossible to have a stable society with power balanced between men and women. Such would always collapse into a society based around women enslaved to alpha males, with history becoming nothing more than a series of coups on the male leadership by males of lower rank. Nevertheless, you need men in order to have children, and men do perform a valuable role of competition. The amazons simply do not want this competition to be about the control of women.
So, what they do is define a civilisation in which only women have a role. Boys are expelled from the city by their seventh birthday to survive on their own in the surrounding forest. Men are hunted for two reasons. Those that do not give good sport are killed quickly and humanely. They would not make good mates. Those that give good sport may be raped and released, (or at least given a reasonable oportunity to escape)
The men may fear the women but they would not resent them. They stay around the the vicinity of the city because only those that stay have any chance of having sex and therefore taking part in the next generation. They probably also raid the farms for food. The old and the weak males may leave the vicinity to become hermits. Perhaps they are somewhat like indian braves playing games of dare.
As well as chasing away any men they encounter near their farms, the women would also perhaps form posses to hunt down men that use violence, men that form gangs or any other social structure, but also to hunt specific men that have taunted and escaped individual women repeatedly, and thus have demonstrated themselves to be particularily fit for breeding with.

What's interesting about designing societies is thinking about normality and how socially conditioned our own perceptions of normality are.
In this case, my point was that the men don't have to be resentful. It is just another way of life. Many men would be killed, but they would not be around to be resentful. The men that survived would be proud of their survival abilites and understand that the women respected their survival abilites also.
