The other day I received a notice from the park stating I had to Power Wash my trailer. I didn't agree with this as I had washed it not too many months ago. Well I started washing it this morning.

I was using the exact same cleaner and methods as I have used the past several times. Only this time there was a difference. When Started washing down the back of the trailer the paint was coming off. I'm talking all of it. I now have two bright shiny panels in hot silver. Needless to say I stopped cleaning as soon as I saw this.

Now I know what I'll be doing next week. On Tuesday I'll be washing down the trailer. On Wednesday I'll be starting the new paint job on the trailer. Oh the fun of it. Oh well, I know it will look good when I'm done. (White with dark green trim.)

On another note I got the bike mostly back together this afternoon. The Carbs are back in place and the fuel filter has been fit in. (Now that wasn't fun. Have you ever tried to fit a three inch long fuel filter into an eight inch long serpentine fuel line with crimping it?) I walked down to the gas station and picked up a gallon of gas. On the way back I saw something shining from the angle in the gutter right next to the curb. I stepped closer and saw it was a knife. I picked it up and brought it home with me. Not because I wanted it, I didn't, but because I didn't want any of the kids or teeners that walk that sidewalk to find it.

Here it is. The dollar bill is to give a sense of scale.

Now I have to figure out how to dispose of it.

Plot Bunnies are where you find them!

Turn it over to the Cops! :D

Some of those stains look like blood to me. It may have been discarded after a stabbing.

It should be easily cross matched to the open cases CSI data, what with it being a half serrated blade and if they are blood stains it might be DNA matched.

That looks like a prison shiv, except there seems to be a handle missing. I do think that was purposely discarded, probably thrown from a moving car.

Nope the stains are surface rust with minor pitting. (Believe me I checked.)

Nah it's factory made complete with Stainless Steel, Taiwan stampings.

As for it being tossed from a car, it wouldn't surprise me. We haven't had any knifings localy latelly. Plenty of shootings though.

The scales have been removed like someone thought they could keep their fingerprints from being found. Yeah, give it to the cops.

It looks like a throwing or target knife missing the handle . It was most likely lost by most people discard these when the handle breaks because the balance is off then

Definately not a throwing knife. The balance is too far off for that. Even without the handles it is way too heavy in the butt. (I could fix that easily enough if I wanted to but is it worth the effort for me?)

I have several "litter pickers" that are designed to pick up items from the ground without having to bend, because my back doesn't bend.

I have one upstairs, one downstairs and I always have one in my car.

A couple of years ago I returned to my parked car. An elderly lady parked behind me had dropped her car keys and they had fallen into the rainwater drain. She had called the Auto rescue service but they couldn't come for an hour and even then might not be able to start her car without the keys.

I offered to try to retrieve the keys with my litter picker. I put a tarpaulin on the ground, knelt down, and started to probe. The drain wasn't very deep and I soon found metal objects. I retrieved two sets of keys - not hers - and a couple of odd metal parts looking like brackets for cycle mudguards. There were some other items blocking my reach. I managed to grab one and pulled it out.

It was a ten inch kitchen knife. As I laid it down on the tarpaulin the Police arrived, summoned by the CCTV operators. The lady and I explained what I was doing. The Police produced a crowbar and lifted the grille above the drain. That made my task very much easier. I then pulled out four more large knives and a brass knuckleduster before finally reaching the lady's keys.

I washed her keys with a bottle of water and dried them on kitchen roll (Now you know how much stuff I carry in my car.). She was able to drive away in time to retrieve her granddaughter from school but I had to give a statement to the Police about the weapons I had retrieved. I hadn't touched any of them with my fingers so they didn't need to take my fingerprints for elimination. I was delayed two hours in all.

Weeks later I was told that although the weapons might possibly have been linked to a number of incidents in the City Centre, they had no verifiable fingerprints that could be used in evidence for any particular case.

I'll think twice before attempting to retrieve keys from a drain.

I commend you re-think that.
Despite the inconvenience of the fnifes and so forth, you helped someone out of a difficult situation.
Surely that's worth it ?

I would keep the knife in my tool box. Sooner or later there will come along a nasty job where you have to cut something that will ruin a knife. Now you have a throwaway knife for the job.

I say burn it in a campfire some night next week.

Gather all of the neighborhood kids (or adults) around the fire after dark and tell them a spooky horror story and tell them you have to burn the evidence before the cops come after you.

It just looks like a hunting knife to me, or maybe something to scale a fish. I'm sure there is a story behind it. Make it a good one, SeaCat!
