Am I too wordy?

I suppose all new writers go through this - seeing the visits rise, while the votes stay low. However, I'd like to know if there's more I could do to make my stories acceptable to the lit audiences. Looking over them, I see that there's a lot of build-up and character development, and that may not be what peopel are into. I mean, in my latest story, there wasn't any actual sex until the last page and a half. So, I guess I'm looking for feedback of any kind, suggestions on how to hook em in. That kind of stuff. Check your email if you haven't already, there's my response. Good stuff! I recommend this story. I liked the whole self-fulfilling prophecy thing it was a nice touch to round out the character's psyche.
