I was just wondering if I was a really awful writer as every thread that I seem to be in or start dies a very quick and horrible death.

Ditto. Egads, I hope we're not awful writers.

I get discouraged sometimes, because most of the time I can't even think of a thread to post, then when I bite the bullet and do post, the thread dies ere it was born.

I wouldn't take it personally. There are a lot of factors that have nothing to do with being awful. There are threads I enjoy reading, but I don't post a reply because I can't think of an intelligent one. I get caught in the negative 'no one cares what you think' self-talk and keep quiet. It's a lame habit and there's no excuse for it, I know.

There are also thread topics that are interesting but since I know next to nothing about the topic, I don't feel qualified to reply. The best I can think of is: hey, that's cool. I feel kind of dumb posting that as it's not very engaging. So again, I keep quiet.

Those are reasons I for one might not reply to a post. I can't speak for the other board members, but I doubt it's because you're an awful writer. If it is, then we're in the same boat. :)

The worst thing that happens is when I start a thread and nobody joins it. It is like a kick in the face to me, that is when I feel like never writing again.

That happens to the best of us.

I didn't recal seeing many of your posts, so I did a search from your profile. From what I saw there, you have a fairly typical distibution of participation in long threads and short threads.

A thread starter that dies at zero replies is a blow to anyone's ego. However, all it really means is that you posted something that was not as interesting to others as it was to you. Sometimes, it's a lack of clarity on your part and other times it is hard to put a response into words. Every once in a while, it's just that nobody noticed your thread.

The few posts I took the time to read didn't display a lack of imagination or minimal writing talent. I seldom go to either of the role-playing forums, so I have no basis for comparison though. I didn't see anything that would make be avoid your work in the stories index (if there is any) so I'd have to say you're not bad writer.

Let's be honest, it can be a bit cliquey in here sometimes. There are some long standing relationships among Literoticans and the people concerned will always pick up on each other's posts. Newcomers and more occasional posters don't have the benefit of those loyalties.
The other aspect of it is the flirting that goes on.
Leave it out altogether, as I do,and people seem to think you are stand-offish, too heavy handed and you are a redneck- you know the types I mean.
The final thing is the speed of this board. I log on most days, and my previous days posts are usually so far down the list by then that I often forget to look for any response.
I promise I'll look for Angelius and Naudiz in future, if only to say Hi!
Happy New Year people!

Don't take it personaly Angelius. You are a VERY talented writer. The reason that most of your threads don't become very succesful is mostly the whole "new guy" thing. Not that people are against you because you're new, but simply that when your new and try to start a role play thread people are reluctant to join because they don't know what to expect. I've noticed that slowly but surely you're newer threads have done better then the older ones did.

Also, I know that the role plays have been kinda dead as of late so don't expect things to be as jumpy with as many people like they were two weeks ago. I myself have had both bombs and hits and most would say that I'm a popular role play starter.

So keep writing, you're very good at writing well thought out posts. Best of luck to you in future threads. :)

It is not that you are bad Angel, it is just that you are a unknown commodity and when you are unknown sometimes it is hard to break through the cliques and make a name for yourself. After all most of the people until recently did not know who I was until I decided to join some threads and just cut loose. A lot of people start these threads but they only want certain people to be involved and occassionally that discourages others. For instances I was not allowed in the Cheerleading fun thread so I started the JayDen thread and the WWF thread at the same time hoping to work with different people and expand a lil bit however alas it did not go. here is a small group of hints that can help you

1) Establish your name. The more people know about you, the more they would be interested in working with you

2) Be diverse and do go for the same schtick over and over again. ( Lord knows I fell in this trap. Now I can't do serious roles anymore.)

3) Be in touch with your characters. It is easier to write for something that you know you would feel comfortable with. After all Renegade made a name for himself by uhhh being Renegade. I made JayDen semifamous until that flop of a solo series and GypsyPrince as Creeper is still one of the alltime greatest roles. for real.

Anyways try these hints and soon you will be over with the Lit crowd even though I am not.

And by the way Ang keep an eye for a thread that me and Asya are thinking about I am gonna post the concept tommorrow to see if anyone bites. If we do it there is a spot for you if you want it. lata

Good lord, Phoenix. That should be the unofficial manuel on how to become popular in the role playing boards. lol

Am I that bad?

Hell no. You are not bad at all babe. ((((HUG))))

Now just be you and have some fun, I'll keep an eye out for you, although with the mood I'm in you may not last long .... I'm horny and in attack mode right now :D

Just be YOU.

Now admit it everyone, who else thinks they are a thread killer?

OR

Maybe your a thread starter (as in when you post it takes off).

I'm neither, I always get stuck in the midle somewhere ... Hmmmmmmmm Why does that not sound bad to me :)

Manual huh. ( personality#2: Maybe there is some money in manuals.) ( P#3: I know he he <evilly rubbing hands together>)

Nicky I want to come up and admit it. Hi everyone I am Phoenix and I am a thread killer. (Group: Hi Phoenix)

As for horny and in attack mode. Hmm Angel to show that I am a good friend you go save yourself I will let her attack me. Trust me buddy I am doing it for you. MUWHAHAHAHAHAHAAH*

I trust you Phoenix but being attacked seems to have its advantages around here.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN

I feel your pain, Angelius. My posts die quicker than the virginity at a high school prom. And I almost have to go to the "Story Feedback" board to invite readers to check out my stories. Fortunately, there are other websites that have noticed most of my stories and requested permission to post them on their websites. Just hang in there, Angelius. And keep the faith alive.

I have had alot of threads "die"on me but i still continue to post and post and post

Well, all you have to do is ask Angelius. I love RPing with you. You have a great style of writing. Whenever you want to start something just look me up!

Thank you, those have to be the best words that I have read in a long, long time. I think the reason I am writing so well is, I can't explain it really.

I really don't have a style, at least not that I know of, I just throw everything that I have onto the screen and hope and pray that the jumbled mess that I come up has some meaning.

Hey Angelius!! I just posted behind you on an RP thread :) I'm new and was nervous to jump in, but you gave me the courage tonight..thanks!

*kisses your nose and skips away smiling*

I've been reading the RP threads more and more, but I still don't have the courage to post yet. I'm still a dud on the threads, so I think I'll just lurk for awhile. There's some good stories going on over there, though! :)

Awwwwww...c'mon!! You KNOW you want to! ;)

Celestiale, I read your post and it is damn good. Keep it up, you are one heck of a writer.

*smiles softly at Angelius* What a sweetie you are, Thank You :) It looks like a great thread...exactly what I was hoping to jump in to. All the characters are wonderful so far!

I wish I could be more diverse like you and jump into lots of the good stories, but I'm not ready for that yet, so I hope we can make this story one that lasts a long time and has lots of twists and turns!

Don't worry about jumping into a lot of threads at once. The problem with that is that you have to keep up with them.

I know!! How do you do it?? :) I love that Dark Carnival one you've been posting in and I've seen your name in so many others.

Anyway...have a Happy New Year where you are! It's only 8:40 am here (omg, I've not gone to bed yet ack ack!!! lol) and I think I am gonna finally call it a night (morning?!) so I can get up and celebrate my New Year in 15 hours..whew!

Have Fun!!!! ;)

My two cents...

I had a great time writing with you on the ORP board. Some threads just don't live lond <shrugs>, it happens.

One thing you might want to change is vary your character a bit. Same name, same description tends to make the storylines blur sometimes.

I just came up with a brain storm, more like a Force 10 full on hurricane. I have been putting myself down, but you are right about my characters. I need some diversity- but I am only just getting warmed up.
