Am I horrible for not being able to watch anymore tv shows about 9-11?

it''s a personal choice.... don't worry about it. If someone judges you on it they have issues to deal with not you.

I'm with you on this.

I turned the tv off after the evening news tonight, and have vowed not to turn it back on untill 9/12.

I can't take any more. I don't want to see another "America Remembers", I remember well enough on my own thank you very much.

Not at all. You know what you are? Normal.

The media is playing it up because in their minds Tragedy = ratings, surviros = ratings, feel good stories = ratings.

They're loving 9/11 because it was a big event, a comon ground for everybody, so now they can dig up alllllll of those anectodal stories (Who cares if most of them didn't happen? Fuck the facts!) and rerun them. They're going to get huge ratings all over, for running reruns. They're hyping it up because there's a huge margin on this.

Do you think they'll stop on 9/12?

I just think we have overdone it with expose',
after story,
after investigation,
after retrospective.

And now we will have a frenzy build up to 9-11.

And then the day of 9-11 will be an unofficial day of mourning.

Enough already.

I have mourned enough already.

Just cant take anymore collective sorrow.

If the media was a person, they'd have to see a therapist because THEY CAN NOT FUCKING MOVE ON!

You're not alone, Siren

I can't watch them. They hit too close to home for me.

The other day I clicked on a link to one of those Memorial sites, with images of the towers collapsing, the faces of those who died, etc, and it took about 15 seconds to plunge me back to the same state of mind I was in mid-September of last year, when I seriously thought I might have PTSD. Not that I knew any victims or live anywhere near New York (actually, as an ex-Washingtonian and Air Force brat I probably felt the Pentagon disaster just as much), but I realized I had followed the story too closely and too obsessively.

I was online for 18 straight hours on September 11, funneling info to people and crying on various shoulders. It wasn't healthy, and I will try to go about something resembling my normal business on Wednesday. I don't believe I need to watch the 9/11 coverage round-the-clock to remember the day or commemorate the victims, though the networks will no doubt tell us that they can help us "heal".

hell no... they'll do a special expose on the day after the day of the first anniversary... fucking media whores

9-11: The Sequel

I'm lighting a candle here in hopes the media does not get it's fondest wish of a similar event this September Eleventh. One would believe it was all a big budget disaster film by the way the story unfolded on television and the news services posing as paparatzi fought one another for yet more details and perspectives to present. In this particular case, this is one sequel I will gladly boycott before the first frame is filmed......

You're not alone, Siren. I can't watch it at all and it's not because I'm disgusted with the coverage (though I am). It's more of a visceral reaction. It literally is making me sick.

And I can't let my son watch it either.

You know the media has gone to far when they give you 2 A3 sized posters of the towers on fire and collapsed to hang on your wall in the Sunday Newspaper.

Build a bridge and get over it. Life goes on.

I don't see it on TV because I don't have a TV, but I was burnt out on it just weeks after it happened. It seemed that the media wanted to milk it, like they were using it for ratings and to squeeze every little drop of misery out of it. I found it tres tacky.

No, you are not alone. I have spoken to many people who feel the same way.

I haven't gotten over last year yet. I am not ready for another dose. I can't believe a whole year has passed. It seems like just last month or something.

I may catch one or two shows, probably about flight 93. I am still blown away at what they did. That a group of Americans, black, white, male, female, etc., could come together so quickly and give up their lives for others... It gives me hope for us. They will always be my heros. I will watch anything that comes along about them.

I think we still need time to grasp what happened last year. They should save all the TV shows for next year.

This year I'd rather watch coverage of the USA attacking Iraq.

I was one of those individuals who got stranded in another city (Washington DC)and scrabbling for a way back home (Detroit). By the time I got home I was so burnt out on 9-11 that I have, as much as possible, avoided the entire issue for the last 360 plus days. While I would not change the emotion that came with the radio for those 12 hours and the subsequent day of TV, I'v been sick of the entire thing since then.

So no, I don't think you are terrible, I'll just say "thank you".

I will watch, and remember.

I don't know how much time I'll have as this is a busy time at work for me, but I will make time to turn on my TV to see at least some of the coverage.

I'm hoping that some of the coverage will be devoted to the survivors, and how they are doing a year later.
