I went to Staples last night for what I thought was going to be a simple errand; buy ink for myself and buy a bunch of folders for one of the teachers with a gift card she gave me. But no...

I did get my ink, but I was only allowed to buy 15 of the nickel folders - I needed 17. And, of course, I couldn't find the card so I had to spend my own money -- 81 cents. However, I did get a portfolio filled with a bunch of cool junk because it was teacher appreciation day. :)

So, then I went to Wally World to buy more folders...lots more...68 of them. While I was checking out, I found the Staples card, and the list of things I was supposed to be buying there.

Back to Staples, I bought 2 more of the folders to bring the total up to 17. A packet of clear plastic sheet protectors and I was ready to check out, or so I thought. There was a display of 1 inch binders which we'd been talking about using for another project and a notice stating they were in last week's flyer for 33 cents - a great deal, but they weren't marked so I went back up the the front desk and asked the price. Yep, they were 33 cents all right, but you could only buy 3 at a time. *sigh* No exceptions. The manager asked if I had someone with me who could also buy some. Nope. Well, he said you are welcome to make multiple purchases as long as you leave the store each time.

So I made 5 trips back to the display, up to the counter, and then out to my car. I did have one lady buy three for me, so that eliminated one trip... By the time the final purchase was rang up, the clerks and I were laughing about it. Aerobic shopping. :)

I really, really, really hope the teacher can use those binders...

Lol, I know what you mean. I needed 145 of those folders for my students. I ended going there everyday for about two weeks. By the time I bought the last set, the cashiers actually would bring up the fifteen folders to the front for me.

They really need to waive that limit per day in their 1 cent sale days, for teachers. My son and I are getting really sick of wearing various costumes and going in in drag several times a day, just to meet my wife's teaching needs.

Maybe I just know how to do some smooth talking?

My sister was having the same issue. We wormed our way around the store until we found the right guy, and he sat there and made separate tickets as if we were however many people it took.
