I've got another question for y'all experts.

In my most recent story, a character loses part of his leg. Assuming no complications from surgery how long would it take before he returns to his normal levels of horny?

I doubt a leg injury is going to affect hormone levels that fuel sex drive in a male so long as the is a stimulus present. Now, if he is on medication, that could affect sex drive and hormone levels.

But, I'm no doctor or medical expert. That's just a wild ass guess.

The injury would affect his sex positions for certain.

It depends on why he loses his leg, I suppose. Assuming you're writing an erotic story (though you might not be), I'm guessing it's not due to diabetes, unless that's a kink I haven't heard of yet (much like learning about the Indian woman hairy pit kink that Ogg has mentioned, which I still find incredibly fascinating!). If it is, there are underlying health issues that could affect his libido.

There is generally at least a five-day hospital stay post procedure, sometimes longer if there are complications.
I believe the two main meds given to amputation patients are pain meds and a (hopefully) short course of antibiotics.

After all that information you probably weren't looking for, I'd say... at least two weeks, probably closer to three.

One of my great uncles confided to me that he lost his libido completely when he lost his leg. Mind you, he was 92 at the time.

The pain meds he would be on would. After my heart attack they had me on so many meds things were all messed up. And then to top it off they put me on anti-depressants. Prozac...my libido went crazy wild. Paxil - took it all away. Some of the blood thinners they had me on also messed with the libido.

After a year, the doctors finally got everything worked out and I was back to normal...well almost...the anti-depressants, no matter which ones, always made me not give a damn about anything.

I finally weened myself off them. I care now. I care a lot. Maybe too much now. And I'm still clinically depressed...so I got that going for myself.

IRL recovery of libido could take a long, long time, what with the meds, the depression, the uxorious sympathy. HOW he lost his leg is a factor, too. Vehicle crash? Industrial accident? Combat? Disease? Vicious assault? Long-suffering, or was it fast?

IRL is a bitch. But this is LIT fantasyland. Wean him from meds (except cannabis) and send in candystripers to blow him regularly. One scenario: Stefan's car is t-boned by sloppy driver Dov, whose girlfriend Lori feels guilty (she was blowing Dov at the time) so she volunteers to suck Stefan to orgasm multiple times daily till... whenever.

After they removed my gall bladder with a fire axe I had sex 2 weeks later.

I suggest you find a facebook thread for Veterans, particularly injured ones and then simply ask.

He loses "Part of his leg"?

Which part? A flesh wound? A foot? A lower leg?

Apart from the pain medication, and which medication could make a difference, why should he lose libido at all? He might be attracted to nurses.

Some people have a fetish about people who have lost limbs so he might attract new lovers. There are some very sexy people taking part in the Paralympics in Rio.

Prozac can kill libido.

Ask my wife :(

She weans herself off the stuff and she's a sex kitten. Then the depression returns and it's back to Prozac and diminished libido again.

Goddamned rollercoaster...

Sympathy:
Isn't there a sort of "female viagra" for this problem ?

From my experience as a multi-trauma patient (amputation, burns, fractures, lacerations.) Two months, twenty two days, fifteen hours, but I was in a coma for forty of those days.😑

No. As I understand it, one has been proposed and accepted by the FDA for initial tests, but I have no idea how it's going, or if it will ever work. (Going off to Google now to see if I can find updates... :) )

Bear in mind that male Viagra doesn't do anything for the libido - it just allows you to maintain (and quickly regain) an erection when your libido calls for action.

Lexapro is in the family of prozac, but more of a cool aunt. Many like it better than Prozac, have her ask her doctor

Blown off

He loses it in an encounter with an armored car. His object of desire comes to visit him. Could he get a boner at least or would that be absolutely ridiculous?

That depends on his meds, his psychology (is he mostly optimistic or pessimistic?), his physiology (what's his pain threshold?), and how fast you want him back in action. Maybe he's an optimistic can-do engineer who immediately sees his trauma as a challenge for designing prostheses. Then he might be hot to go after a couple weeks.

This one is something...

I never thought I'd ever be talking about this on a porn site...LOL. Now, I know why I keep coming in here!

I'm thinking its ridiculous unless its way down the line. You're focusing on the pain aspect. How long before the pain would be down enough to get horny?

In reality, losing a limb is a huge psychological blow. You are no longer complete, you feel like a freak. You're depressed, upset, its very traumatic and let's face it, you are not going to feel sexy.

Having said that, you can do what you want. This is a porn site full of such ludicrous scenarios that a guy could pop a rod while losing his leg and some readers won't think anything of it, of there's a hot girl blowing him while he's bleeding.

But if you want reality? Look past the physical.

See, I had the exact opposite reaction. They had to switch me to Paxil to lower my libido.
