Vote controversy? People packing up and leaving? Top list debacle? Backbiting?

Can someone sum this up for me? This is too odd for me to get my head around.

What the hell does "backbiting" mean anyway?

I've absolutely no idea what is going on other than there must be something going on behind the scenes. Or maybe people who are serious are just bored with the prevalent complacency of the site. There seems to be a mood for harder edged critical analysis by the people more serious about their writing but what has prompted people to leave is beyond me.

That's a bloody good question Liar! I wish I knew the answers, but if people want to leave that is their choice, they will be missed but let them go.

This is an erotic adult website, not a serious writing website. It should be fun!

I want to learn more about poetry and want my writing to grow and their are threads in this forum for me to do that. There are also the lighter threads just for enjoyment value, but at the end of the day you can't tell people how they should vote or how they should leave thier comments, that's why it's called FREE SPEECH!

Angeline and Eve decided they wanted to pack up and leave because they felt Lit was drying their poetry right now more than helping. Several reasons involved, no need to mention them - I'm sure you can think of a couple on your own. ;)

I had an idea to revive a thread about analysing the top-rated poems (popular choice and all that - they may be on to something) and that started a discussion about how the readers vote these days, as opposed to how they used to vote 2 or 3 years ago. By the time I left last night, it was going very well.

Yeah... I can dig it. I'm not writing much poetry here right now either, because at the moment, the community is not helping me and my writing is not helping the community. That's still a far cry from cutting the connerction and saying byebye to people I have gotten to know or are beginning to get the bearings on. I like people far too much for that, and this place is by far the most convenient way I know to keep in touch with them.

You don't really think they're leaving, do you? They'll lurk, they'll be here always. :)

...not a serious writing website??

Why do you think that?

Maybe the General Board and The Playground (no offense at all to any GB'ers) is light and fluffy, but The Poetry Forum never was. Til this year.

Maybe folks should take it more seriously.

More workshop threads. More challenges. Less whining and complaining. (I don't mean you Jen)

More writing po ems!!!

Boo! This group has many interest and great poetry is only one. The poetry
as a whole isn't what it was back a year or so. Syn, Street, Dusty.... poets
that wrote in many forms and drifted on. The group will find its way soon.
I'm pretty much a loner while you are more out going. Everyone must
adjust to what comes next. Give it some time. Poetry will come to the top.
I hope.

Aye aye aye. I think what she, or at least what I am trying to say is that Lit is not a high-brow writing website. It is all good if we take our writing and striveto impove it seriously. It's when people take themselves too seriously that problems occur. It's hard to keep a holier-than-everyone attitude to oneself when one's poems share web page with banner ads for "My Friends Horny Mom". ;)

I don't see any ads anymore since the recently departed and dearly missed Angeline directed me to AdMuncher.

I was always kind of flattered that the MILF Hunter thought my poetry might be fertile ground for Suburban Sluts.

You don't have to miss me cause I'm not really gone. I'm just concentrating more on writing now than talking about it. I found myself being drawn into all these discussions about writing that were keeping me from doing it. That is no one's fault but my own, but I'm in a self-imposed sabbatical, sort of.

I hope to have more stuff up somewhere very soon. I'll email you. ;)

Don't forget the drunken coeds. They love your poems, too. :p

I'm betting there's at least as much poetry-potential there as there was on the fisting ads of yesteryear. ;)

The look on the woman's face in that ad irritated the hell outta me. Smithpeter, too--that ad was the reason he pulled all his poems at one point. If it were not for her, there would be 4 million sp poems here instead of 3 million. :D

You have all my poems, don't you? You probably have poems of mine I don't even remember anymore. God I love you.

PS--Recent letter from karmadog says he is now irrisistible to chesty blondes--and of course he is bitching about it. Isn't it nice to know some things never change? ;)
