Ali vs Frazier- the daughters

I'm lost on this one...

**shrugs and returns to more understandable threads**....

Oh come on. I don't even follow boxing and i know about the fight. Besides... Ali is going to win. More staying power.

Wonder what Laurel thinks?

I saw foreman's daughter the other week, she boxes just like her old man did when he won the title in the 70s

Christy Martin can kick all their asses, but Don King won't let her fight because she doesn't have a famous daddy. I saw Martin fight a few times, she's quicker and just as strong as Ms Ali or Ms Frazier.

However, didn't their kids see how those two men's battles, especially with each other, took so much out of them. I like boxing, though.

Is it just me, or is Ms. Ali kinda' hot *cringing in anticipation of the replies*

Yes she is, but don't let her hear you say that.
Though I bet Laurel could take her in 2. And she is way hotter.

Damnit I knew she was hot.... and I bet she could make Laurel her bitch.......... *wanders off fantasizing about interacial lesbian domination and catfights* ;)

There's actually a really good article in SI about the fact that this fight is between two average boxers who are just cashing in on their famous fathers.

All the same I'd put dollars to doughnuts on Ali.

I think it's a sham and a shame. Two rich chicks - one's a model, for crying out loud - yawning their way to millions. It's an insult to their fathers - brave warriors who gave it all in the ring. It's an insult to the budding sport of women's boxing. What a crock. IMHO.

I used to love the sport of boxing. Now I am wondering why there is such fascination with watching two people literally bash each other's brains out. The terms "Dementia pugilistica" and "punch drunk" refer to the damage done to these athletes.

I am puzzled why women have suddenly developed a blood lust knowing the damage that repeated blows to the head can cause. Do they have an increased level of testosterone? Or is it pressure to follow in dad's footsteps? Especially these two girls. (I know there is no concrete proof to demonstrate a relationship between boxing and Parkinson's by the way, but both of these women have first hand knowledge of the devastating effects boxing has had on their fathers)

But there is demonstrable evidence that damage is cumulative- the more fights one has and the longer the career of professional bouts increases the number of blows to the head and therefore raises the risk factors. Every blow to the head results in microscopic damage. But concussive blows can lead to both acute and chronic traumatic brain injury.

Is it worth winning a fight or a title if it is accompanied by a lack of coordination, subtle loss of balance, or a generalized "slowing down" of mental acuity? Can there be some collateral damage to reproductive health in women (even though hitting below the belt is outlawed, body blows could injure the ovaries) Personality changes, tremors and loss of speed in motor functions are all possible especially when you consider that constant jarring of the skull occurs in sparring rounds as well as actual bouts. And, after all, the object of the sport is to incapacitate your opponent.

I dunno. I never really followed the sport. I mean, there's just something wrong about a sport where the sole object of the game is to knock your opponent unconscious.

*shrug*

I would guess the motivation is money. I've never had much of an interest in professional boxing. I'd rather watch toughman. If there was a true "great white hope" for a heavyweight champion, I'm sure it would spark a lot of interest. But that's about as likely as Todd becoming a registered democrat.
