Hailed once as "the future" of the Democratic Party by DNC Chairman Tom Perez, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) took to Instagram on Saturday to analyze the state of the country's economy.

The Boston University graduate, said she was recently reading how, in 1930, "famed economist Milton Keynes predicted that by 2030, GDP and technology would have advanced so much, that it would allow everyday people to work as little as FIFTEEN HOURS a week and provide for their families."

There's only one problem with this: Milton Keynes does not and has never existed.

John Maynard Keynes.

Maybe you’d prefer a quote from Tim Apple.

Not to take anything away from what AOC said, but what did Trump say today?

I can almost guaranty we can find out some falsehood in it. Happens when you lie 10-20 times on a daily basis.

I don't think as poorly of her as some people do(or as highly as some do) but I don't know if her being ditzy and making things up is some type of schtick or she's really that clueless. Either way isn't a good thing.

Seeing I went to the same college she did I guess I have to root for it being a game, not her lack of education.

My money is on this is who she really is.

It also makes me wonder about the academic standards at Boston U.

I don't wonder at all. They not only admitted AOC, they graduated her with honors.

In a society where everyone gets a trophy and the only discrimination that is lawful is against male Asians and WASPs, the reason for the rapid advancement of women and minorities over white and Asian males in academia is not because they magically "evolved" in a generation or two.

Those who are admitted despite being discriminated against white and Asian males and the women and minorities who would have done well with actual standards in place are not served well by the lowered standards. The rest have a worthless piece of paper.

She has a degree in "International Relations and Economics." She took twelve credit hours of economics in classes like "Economics of Less-Developed Regions," as part of that degree. She is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and is supported by her local Communist Party. Her economic tilt is more toward Karl Marx than American free enterprise capitalism.

The mistake Milton Keynes for Maynard Keynes has been made numerous times by lotsa different people. Folks are making a mountain out of a molehill. :D

At least she got part of it right .

I'm mostly surprised people have heard of Milton Keynes.

I only know it existed because I once ended up there by mistake when I got on the wrong bus.

I guess you're lucky then that the bus driver knew a roundabout way to get you home again.

That's how most people get there .
