Hey, I stayed away from all the threads poking fun at Bush for looking like a monkey, etc. after the election. I had no problem with the Gore supporters having fun on the board. Everyone deals with defeat in different ways. Please try to find anyplace where I've done "endless bashing." You can't, can you? This post just struck me as funny, sorry if I offended you. It would have been just as funny had Gore won and all the idiots who said they'd leave in that case had stayed! No one ever intended on actually moving.

Maybe they didn't intend to leave, but that part wasn't what offended me. What offended me was an offhand joke that people of a certain party were, by definition, liars.

Since I'm clearly oversensitive these days, and find many of the people here -- and their posts -- boorish and insensitive, it's clear my vacation was far too short. Back to the beach.

Cheyenne, watch the Dem comments. My comments on Bush were specific, and not aimed at the republican party as a whole (major parts-the Christian Coalition, yes.) but on specific individuals or special interest groups. The liar comment is specifically disturbing because it's something I try very hard not to be. I've had enough people inflict hurt/pain on me by lying and as a general rule, I don't do that.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone. In general, I go by the rule if you can dish it out, you have to be able to take it, too. "You" being a collective "you" on the board, not you personally.

I could go back and research all the comments in prior threads bashing the "republican party as a whole" directly for being various things including greedy, stupid, capitalists, liars (I'm sure I could find a direct quote like that on this board if I looked hard enough), "conservative right wing" (is that an insult? )etc. But I won't bother. The point is that "generalization" comes with the territory. If I'm going to challenge Gore's honesty (in a thread WAY back in the dark ages before the election) I have to expect others here are going to say republicans are greedy capitalists who want abortion to be outlawed. Or that Bush looks like a monkey and wears cowboy boots.
