...Surveys demonstrate a decline in alcohol consumption by young persons over a period of decades.

For example, the proportion ot people age 12 through 17 who have consumed any alcohol during the previous month has dropped from 50% in 1979 to 14.7% in 2009, according to the federal government's annual National Survey on Drug Use and Health.

The proportion of high school seniors who have ever consumed alcohol is also declining. The proportion of high school seniors who have consumed alcohol within previous year is down. The proportion of high school seniors who have consumed alcohol within previous 30 days is down. The proportion of high school seniors who have recently consumed alcohol daily is down. The proportion of high school seniors who have consumed 5 or more drinks on an occasion within previous two weeks is down.

The proportion of college freshmen who drink alcohol continues to drop. Between 2006 and 1010, the proportion of drinkers dropped from 62% down to 38%. That is a new historic low.

About half (49%) of American college students don’t drink alcohol on a regular basis, 31% consume five or fewer drinks per week, and only 12% (a little over one in ten) consume ten or more drinks per week. 24 The average (median) number of drinks consumed by college students is 1.5 per week, according to the Harvard School of Public Health College Alcohol Study’s survey of 17,592 students at 140 colleges and universities across the United States. 25 The continuing Harvard Studies have documented an increase in the proportion of college student abstainers and an decrease in the average number of drinks consumed by those who do drink...

I wonder if they are really abstaining from mind altering substances or simply shifting to other drugs?

In fact, alcohol consumption in general has declined over the past thirty years.

For example, drinking at business lunches, once almost ubiquitous, is now very rare. Workday drinking is nearly unheard of today while it was an accepted part of life in the 60s and 70s.

My no1son will be 21 soon. He and all his friends are super-aware of their health. They drink only rarely and do not use any drugs.
Their addiction of choice appears to be protein drinks and gym memberships.
It's a big shift from my generation.

What's wrong with these kids today?

On the other hand, many youth are a bunch of couch potato lard asses these days.

Maybe they are too busy sitting on their butts playing video games to go get drunk.

DING DING DING!!!

It isn't nearly as destructive physically or mentally, it's extremely pleasant, makes sex food and sleep better and has never killed anyone in recorded medical history. Unlike the tens of thousands of people who die from alcohol poisoning every year in the US alone. And it doesn't hurt you the next day. :D

Besides when was the last time you herd of someone smoking a bowl and sucking 37 dicks and passing out in a sludge pit behind some club? Or going 100mph through a neighborhood glitching out a minivan full of girls scouts? nope......How about burning a joint then beating the wife and kids, kicking the dog and starting a fist fight with the neighbor "just because" ehh??? Me neither....Booze? You can't tell me you never seen COPS......like 4 out of 5 episodes features some drunken asshole getting tazed, it's what makes the show so good, even after 25 fuckin' years.

Alcohol? Man...people do some DUMB fuckin' shit when they drink, the boozers make potheads look like a bunch of innocent autistic kindergartners.

Stay green my friend....
