Just saw this video that shows the movements of all air traffic for a 24 hour period. I ended up watching like five times straight.

You could actually see the great circle route between North America and Europe. That was cool, capped it to replay at my leisure.

Awesome, to see all the flights from UK/Europe to the States/South America in day time, fantastic.

And if you take the button to go forward and backward and move it around you can see the shadow of the night passing by like a sinusoidal function (poetic hum ?)

It reminded me of the video of air traffic on 9/11/2001. Watching all that traffic suddenly disappear when they suspended all air traffic.
