Tonight I took my wife out for her Birthday Dinner. (Last week she took me out for mine.) Each year we each chose what kind of food we wish to eat then the other choses the place we'll eat. This year she chose Chinese so off we went to a place we had been to once before. (Okay, more than once.)

We walked in and were seated. As we were waiting for the menus I handed my wife her card. Our waitress, a cutelittle thing came by with the menus and saw the card. She asked about it and my wife admitted to it being her Birthday dinner. The next thing we know here comes Papa to offer his best wishes, he informed us he would be serving us tonight. He then asked us if we had made our choices.

I took a risk and asked him what he recomended, while mentioning my wife liked milder food while I enjoyed the truly spicy. He smiled and told me he would take care of things.

Before we knew it we were served Tea, a very nicely flavored yet mild Tea. (Oolong served with a small flower floating in the Tea Cup.)

Then came the first course. Sweet and spicy ground chicken wrapped in Lettuce Leaves.

This was followed by small bowls of soup, Egg Drop for my wife and Hot and Sour for myself.

This was followed by the main course. Sesame Chicken for my wife and something I can't pronounce for myself. (Beef and Pork, Heavy on the Garlic and Peppers. This was stir fried with Pea Pods, Scallions and Water Chestnuts.) My wifes Chicken was done perfectly and mine was hot enough to make me sweat.

All of this was washed down by the bottomless pot of tea.

Our meal was finished off with small cakes liberaly coated in Honey.

Now the things that truly set this evening apart.

About halfway through the meal my wife became chilly. Papa seemed to notice as he soon came from the back room with an absolutely stunning short jacket for my wife to wear. At the end of the meal she went to return it and he informed her that it was hers.

When the check came I was shocked at the total. The entire meal came to all of $40.00. (I was expecting and willing to pay much more for that meal.) I fished out my wallet and dropped twice that amount on the table. It was more than worth it to me.

As we left Papa followed us to the car and handed me the bag filled with leftovers. He bowed us into our car and wandered back inside as we drove away.

Needless to say both of us had a good time.

By the way, Cat, sorry I missed your birthday. Happy belated.

Uncle Joes. (I'm not kidding it's the name of the place.)

As for missing the Birthday, no sweat I don't make a big deal out of it.
