I love where I live, but these damn storms can be a pain. Our satellite dishes have been literally knocked down; we'll probably have to wait until after Memorial Day before they will be repaired. In the mean time, we're under a tornado watch - downgraded from a warning about an hour ago after a twister briefly touched down about thirty miles north of us - and I'm stuck with accessing the internet on my phone. And that really sucks; this whole paragraph took me around five minutes to compose. :p

I hope all my fellow Texans are faring well. Check in if ya can.

Stay safe and dry, slyc.

Thanks. It's not too bad now. The storm has passed our area but we still have a flash flood warning for the next five hours. That's not a big deal for us, though, since we live on a hill; if we get flooded here, then half of Texas would be under water.

It never ceases to amaze me that equipment makers never seem to make equipment suitable for the area in which it is to be used.

Your storm is about 4 or 5 hours from here. Mid morning they say. Luckily we've had a couple of fair days without a lot of rain to let the water soak in before this one hits. Over six inches already this month with another 4-6 inches expected over the next few days.

The lake is over two feet high and still rising even though they are releasing water as fast as they dare to prevent major flooding south of us. You can almost launch in the parking lot at the boat ramp at the end of the road.

Glad to see you're fine, slyc. hang in there.

Storms for the past 4 or 5 days here in Houston area. Pain in the ass, as the power seems to go out with the really bad storms and it's not always form the storm...might depend on your view though...more power lines have been downed in this area by cars than storms. Last month the power was out for eight hours when a substation was struck by lightning.

Just last week it was out four hours after a car hit a pole knocking it down and had the live wires dancing around on the ground causing all kinds of problems for people.

A lot of damage was caused by the intermittent electricity. Computers, TVs, Air Conditioners, etc. Luckily I have two surge protectors in line with my computers and TVs. Our AC did give us a scare, but resetting the breaker cured it.

Yeah, it's not bad now. The storm's gone except for some clouds. Wife and the little one are out shopping, so it must be cleared up. ;)

I'm still having to wait until after Monday for internet to be fixed.

Same up here in Dallas last night. Thunderstorms, tornado wathch, flash floods, the works. At least 3 inches of rain, on top of already soaked earth. Drying out a little finally. Wettest spring I can recall in North Texas.

Tired of the daily storms here. I guess it's better than a drought, though.

Watching the coverage of Texas weather and hope you are safe.
Damn!!!!!

80% chance today starting at noon. Forecast for the week is rain, rain and more rain over the next seven days. Of course that is subject to change without notice.

Bright sunshine and blue skies this morning and I'm less than a hundred miles north of ya. 20% chance of rain.

Got to love the weather in Texas.

No kidding, Tx. ;)

Flash flood warnings all day and overcast now. Looks like we're gonna get more rain tonight . . .

We're on the other side, Jay, closer to the river and Canyon Lake. But I imagine CL has gained more than a few feet as well.

It sounds like the old saying: "We don't have a climate here, just weather."
Stay dry.

We're fine. Soaking wet with a pond for a back yard, but okay.

And you're very right, RR. No climate in Texas. We get storms, drought, and something called winter that lasts for about six weeks.

Well the forecast rain hasn't shown up yet, but we are under a flash flood warning. Dark clouds to the north. Still waiting for the 80% showers.

The light stuff is starting now but from the looks of the radar and the clouds across the lake, all hell is fixing to break loose.

Lots of thunder and lightning but most of it is staying across the lake and going north of me.

My older cat is in her bomb shelter under the bed. :D

The younger cat is looking her way and shaking her head.

The thunder is now on this side of the lake and the younger cat decided discretion was the better part of valor and joined the older cat in the bomb shelter.

Thunder, lightening, the wind is whistling in the eves, and it's raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock.

A typical Texas thunderstorm.

It has been lightning and thundering for the last hour or so. It just started raining here. Gee only four hours late.

Big, big, big boomer.

Really windy out there. The giant flags are really fluttering!
