Well no, you can still do that but I think it'd be nice to Pm someoneyou don't normally. Maybe compliment them on something, ask them how their day is going or tell them a joke? whatever.

Admittedly, I got this random PM and it was weird at first (did not know what to think of this person I don't know- was it spam?) Turns out it was a sweet and kind person who I am getting to know ... I think.
