Tokyo, Japan 2020...International Military Academy. In the year 2000 technology became available to allow travel to other dimensions. What scientists found was terrifying. One realm was filled with creatures that can only be described as vampires...another has orc like creatures that are armed with automatic weapons....yet another is a window to warring galactic space empires. Though governements controlled the technology dimensional invaders have developed their own technology and are invading earth.

How you all fit in.... You are all here for your first semester. As you check in at the front gates you are given your dorm assignments ( know where you are being assigned but you can choose a roomate among other writers if they want too for example, Dan Daugherty (rengadeirishman) Orn Kross (RoneLilth) can room together since both are in the infantry dorm).

As I said in the OOC thread dorm rooms have a heavy security door that leads to the main halway. Behind the door is short halway. On the right there is a bedroom with a bed and dresser. On the left is a study room with desk and empty bookshelve. At the end of the halway are two rooms. One a full bathroom with tub and shower. The other room is a large store room. All players have enough room to move in all their intitial gear they have with them....decorate how you like.

If you have a roomate there is an extra bedroom on the right and a common room on the left with a table and four chairs. Now if you want a roomate and there are no other writers to room with you let me know and I will create a roomate for you....I have a table in mind for it.

You are given a file with all the information you need to register for classes (let me know what your interests are and classes will be made available for you to improve your skills). Also in the file are several clubs looking for new members....

The Polar Bears.......(Artic warriors club for those who like war in the tundra. Gear provided with club membership and dues for club events)

Brandy & Cigars Club (The club for gentlement and lady officers who enjoy riding, banquets, fencing, good cigars, and games of chess)

The Samurai Club (for those dedicated to traditional martial arts and reenactors..Men only)

Battle Gurls (female commando club for women who want to practice techniques for combat behind enemy lines. Air Assault to Sniper type training)

Mech Warriors (those who love to build small combat mechs or want a careet as a pilot. Join up with offer tools, training, and mech kits)

So it is your first day...all the dorms are built around the library and chow hall...classrooms and gym facilities across the path. The library is very large and impressive building of glass and stone and is four levels. First has computers and front desk. Second referance stacks, third study rooms, and four meditation gardens. The chowhall is is right next to the library with only a small garden between the two buildings. Two level the first is a large dining hall like you would find in most college with three serving areas (DIFFERENT FOOD AT EACH). The second level is an informal coffee area and a popular place to hang out. Has internet access as well.

So go forth mingle the adventure start shortly......plenty of battling. Any questions post on the OOC thread. Just unpack...meet...and make some decisions troops. Thanks for waiting so long.

The Humvee rolled up to the Academy entrance, James Taggart, looked out the window of the vehicle, analyzing everything as he passed by. He was splendid in his dress uniform, as was required for him when reporting for duty. Directly across from him was another officer who was organizing a file on his laptop computer as they approached.

"Sir." James said formally. "What is the objective of this operation?"

The older man did not look up from his laptop. "You objective to to learn Taggart, four-eight. Learn, adapt to the situation and become a better officer."

"Yes sir. Sir, when will I begin combat operations?"

"That will be determined later Taggart, four-eight."

"Yes sir. Sir, when will I be assigned command of a unit?"

"Again, that will be determined later. Now you are assigned to training operations. Your mission is to learn and adapt to your new surroundings, learn to intigrate your training with non-gen soldiers and further your military studies in preperation for combat. That is all Taggart, four-eight."

"Yes sir."

The rest of the ride was passed in silence. The vehicle finally stopped and allowed the two passangers to exit. The elder handed over a printout and a plain manilla folder. James took it wordlessly and removed two plain green duffle bags from the vehicle.

"This will be your new post until further notice. You have been given your orders and instructions. You will act independantly until further notice. Report for duty and learn well Taggart, four-eight."

"Yes sir."

The two seperated. The older man reentered to vehicle and pulled away while Taggart policed up his belongings and proceeded inside.

Daniel Daugherty leaned against the dorm wall, next to the main door. He had already moved his things into his room. His room was small, but it was his alone, so he didnt mind. He stood out in the bright sunlight and watched other young warriors milling around the grounds. He carried his brace of .45 pistols in shoulder holsters over a O.D.wife beater, which bore a special forces logo and was tight enough to show his muscles. He wore high quality wrangler jeans and heavy combat boots, wrapped up to mid-calf. In a boot sheath he carried his buck knife and on his hip his sabre. From his mouth hung a Basic red 100, and he brought his zippo up to light it. As he breathed in the delicious smoke he read a list of clubs and classes. "I like brandy and i like cigars," he said to himself, breathing the smoke out. "But classes first, something in unarmed and close combat, pistoleering, asymetric warfare, maybe something in weapons crafting." he thought about all these as he smoked his cigarette and watched all his new schoolmates.

Kaili stepped out of the taxi in her blue dress uniform and tucked her red hair back into a bun. She waited while the driver got the rest of her bags out of the trunk and she looked around at the other students that were arriving. She looked up at the front of the International Military Academy then thanked and paid the driver. Kaili pulled the duffle bag strap over her shoulder and picked up the suitcases, thankful that the rest of her things had been sent ahead of her.

She had arrived in Japan yesturday and was excited to be going to her first choice in schools. It was a long way from home but she was sure it would be worth it seeing how it was the best school. If she was feeling any insecurity over being in a strange place, she made sure that it didn't show by marching confidently towards the doors. She dodged past other students that were juggling their belongings, talking, and finding their way in.

As she walked past, Kaili watched as a dark haired man pulled two green duffle bags out of a vehicle. There was an elderly man with him whom she assumed was his father. She watched the cold goodbye and thought that sometimes it's better when parents don't drop you off. She kept on walking and started to wonder if everything had made it to Japan alright. Kaili walked through the front doors and looked around to find her dorm.

James had recieved his schedule and room assignment without saying much more that 'yes sir' or 'no sir' to the administrators. He promptly made his way to his dorm room, opening the door and suickly surveying the area. He seemed to be the first arrival as there was no one else nor any other belongings in the room yet.

He went about this typical routine; Establish base camp, and he unpacked his belongings, placing everything in their propper place and order, ready for inspection.
Secure communications; A small desk computer sat on his work desk. Flipping it on, he quickly set up his e-mail account and typed in his school schedule as well as any meetings or appointments. He then proceeded to enable a simple encryption program and password protector.
Set duty roster; There was no one esle, so he naturally assigned all tasks to himself. His dress uniform was not appropriate for the tasks so he went about changing. He stripped out of his uniform, carefully placing his shoes, belt, cufflinks and any other accessories into the closet where they belonged. His dirty clothes went into a laundry sack, both his shirt and trousers went into another bag, to be drycleaned.
He looked himself over in the long mirror hanging on the inside door of his wall locker. He dragged a hand brush through his black hair. It was cut too short for any style or part, so a quick brushing was all that was required. He looked over his features, ignoring what he looked like in favor of approving the way he looked instead. He was clean shaven and always would be. Electrolisys when he was 16 had perminatly destroyed his ability to grow a beard or moustashe. (It had been deemed unsanitary by his handlers.) High in his left cheek was a laser brand. Clear block letters spelling out; TAGGART-0048 beneath that were more letters; A-POS and then the third line was a simple bar code.
Finding all acceptable, he pulled on one of his gray jumpsuits and black boots. He finally clicked a leather belt with a holster on the right hip and picked up a gray cap for when he went outdoors.
Review Inteligence; James, looked over his papers and class curiculum, then made his way to the letters of welcome and flyers left in the room regarding the many clubs on campus, his portfolio and finally, reviewed a map of the school grounds.
Initiate reconicence, secure the area; James left, securing his room and exiting into the courtyard. He wandered around in a circle for a bit, verifying that the map he had reviewed was accurate and the location of key facilities before heading over to the entrance to one of the clubs.

James stepped into the lobby for the 'Battle Gurls' Hall and up to the membership desk, indifferent to the gapes and stares the female s offered him.

"I request a simulator set to urban warfare for training purposes."

As Dan was finishing his cigarette, he produced another and lit it off the end of the first, before discarding the butt. He saw a dark haired man with something on his cheek, clad all in grey with black boots, entering the battle gurls clubhouse "He looks like alot of fun," he chuckled to himself. as he noticed the mans destination he chuckled again and said "Sly dog," he smiled as he scoped other students. A redhaired girl in blue uniform caught his eye entering the Air Defense dorm "Fly me to the moon," he sang quietly to himself as he smiled again "Love those redheads man." He kept looking around, trying to locate other infantry students. He saw a few others, mostly looking soft and nervous. "If these are all my fellow infantrymen, the ones who'll watch my back in combat, i think i might need a new career." he said, making a succession of smoke rings "On the plus side, not much competition in the combat department, top of the class here i come."

When Kaili got to her dorm she stacked her things in a corner. When she had signed in with the administration they had informed her that her dogs had arrived last night and were in the kennels. She was going to change into her gym clothes and go take them for a run but a folder on her desk caught her attention. The folder contained the basic information about the school, a map, class listings, and a list of the clubs.

Kaili perused through the club listings trying to decide if she was interested in any of them. The Polar Bears caught her attention because she had experience in extreme whether but it wouldn‘t really further her education. The Mech Warriors interested her because there would be other pilots involved. Kaili was going to write off Battle Gurls but they would help with Air Assault, and it would be a good way to meet other women on campus.

She decided that whether she could join more than one club would depend upon how much of a time commitment it would be and if it would interfere with classes. Kaili looked at her watch and decided that the dogs would have to wait a little longer. It would be in her best interest to go take a quick look around.

Following the map, Kaili walked out into the courtyard. As she was walking she heard a commotion coming from the Battle Gurls hall. Curious, she walked over. She noticed the man that she had seen outside was at the membership desk. Normally she couldn’t have cared less. The problem was the men only group. With the men only group on campus, she understood why the women would feel the need to defend their turf.

Seeing what a bastard his dad was she felt bad for him. But her not actually being a member of the group did limit what she could actually do. When the fight broke out she could join in or not, she smirked at the thought. She didn’t know enough about him to manipulate him out which left even fewer options.

Kaili walked up and started talking to the woman behind the desk. She grabbed some paper work and started filling it out. “I think this group is really wonderful.” Kaili smiled at the women then at the man beside her and back again. “I think that this shows that the women in this school are so much more progressive than the administration and the majority of the men here.” Kaili rolled her eyes and sighed. “ I mean how archaic is it to restrict membership to someone based on something so silly as sex.”

Kaili shoved her paperwork into the woman’s hands and then just started to babble. The woman looked flustered and handed over a package. Kaili took it, thanked her profusely, and handed it to the dark haired man. Kaili decided she had done all she could and if he wasn’t smart enough to leave then it wasn‘t her problem. Kaili turned and started to walk out of the room.

James never raised his voice nor even interupted when the ladies became somewhat vocal in their protests. His calm demeanor seemed only to anger some of them in fact.

“I think this group is really wonderful." A newcommer stated next to him. "I think that this shows that the women in this school are so much more progressive than the administration and the majority of the men here. I mean how archaic is it to restrict membership to someone based on something so silly as sex.”

James saw another cadet filling out paperwork as she spoke, finally handing over her newly gained package.

"I concur." he said, partly to the new cadet and partly to the administrative ladies barring his way. "Restriction of unique training only serves to limit the capabilities of military personnel, thusly reducing the capabilities of the combat force in action."

James looked down at the package in his hands as a thought occurred to him, ignoring the heated response his critique had garnered.

"Would an active member of your group be allowed to escort a guest?" he asked then turned to the newcommer. "Would you be willing to engage in a combat simulation with me ma'am?"

Kaili slowed down so that she could listen to his response which turned out to be simple but articulate. But as eloquent as it was, she believed that the argument would probably fall on deaf ears until everyone calmed down. She stopped walking when she heard him ask, "Would you be willing to engage in a combat simulation with me ma'am?"

She stopped and looked around at the women who were watching the scene unfold. Some of them looked angry, others interested, but figured it was the ones that she couldn’t read that she would have a problem with. She knew she wasn’t going to win any popularity contests anytime soon because she did stomp on some toes.

But the goal was still to get him out of here so Kaili turned around and looked at him. She was surprised by the tattoo on his left cheek. She had only really seen a profile of his face and therefore missed the tattoo.

Kaili shrugged her shoulders and said, “Sure”.

James nodded and looked back to the receptionist who was currently dumbfounded by his question as well as Kali's compliance.

"If the compromise is acceptable, then we shall proceed." he said handing over the package. "Here is your 'acceptable' member, I am only proceeding as a guest."

He pressed forward, ignoring the glares shot at him for his boldness. (Or arrogance depending on your point of view)

Once inside, he turned, waiting for his escort to arrive.

"Do you have a prefrence, ma'am? Would you prefer a team event or one on one?"

Kaili was shocked when he handed her back the package. Her shock was soon forgotten when she almost doubled over laughing. As he walked away she chuckled, “Ah, the norms have been restored.”

Kaili followed him and, when she caught up, she was still snickering. She ignored his question for now and said, “You really are arrogant. I hope, for your sake, shit disturbing isn’t your modus operandi. If it is, then for my health, I’m going to stop taking your side.”

Kaili took a look around then got back to his question and said, “Well, that depends on the simulation. My name is Kaili by the way.”

He held her gaze impassively.

"Negative. My objective was only to engage in a training senario in order to become a better soldier. I revealed a flaw in their training system and adapted to overcome. I neither wish to engage in hostilities nor place you in danger." he answered, seeming to completely miss her point. James stepped up to one of the many control pannels which regulated the images to the holo chamber inside and tapped at the keys.

"My initial intention was simply to engage in an asymitrical combat situation. I recomend all random elements, to be decided by the computer program. This generally presents the most realistic senario with the greatest need to improvise."

He looked up at here again. "Well met Cadet Kaili. Will this senario selection meet with your approval?"

Kaili shook her head at his cluelessness. She watched as the meaning of her mocking flew over his head. What had been her joking around with him had been interpreted very soberly. As he walked over to the control panel she dryly muttered under her breath, “That’s a good little automaton.”

She started to realize that what had happened earlier with the Battle Gurls, had nothing to do with making a statement. Kaili began to realize that he was completely oblivious to social norms. This also made her more curious about the strange barcode tattoo he had.

When he got back, she ended up staring at the tattoo then answered, “Yes, the scenario is fine, Robo-boy.” She smiled sarcastically. “What kind of weapons will be available or is this unarmed combat? I‘m in Air Defense; Where are you?”

James tapped the final key and the door slid open as a mechanical voice spoke from an overhead speaker.
Peramiters set. Simulation loading. Please enter chamber.

"I don't know." James said in answer to Kaili's question. "I set everything to random." He ignored her verbal jabs, or else likewise missed their intent, but added; "I have currently been assigned to the Command and Control section of the academy."

They went inside and the door slid shut behind them, leaving them in total darkness for a moment.

"Simulation starting." came the mechanical voice. The lights came up to reveal a downtown cityscape in total ruins. "Objective: Enter the safe zone located 400 meters to the North. Weapons: none, Support: none, Communications: unavailable. Begin Operation."

The two took cover at the sound of automatic weapons fire nearby.

Kaili glared at him when he said that it would all be random. “Command and Control. Figures.”
Not bothering to check his, lack of reaction, she stepped into the next room.

Kaili dove for cover at the sound of the weapons fire. She really hadn’t known what to expect. She did know that she had assumed she would be flying rather than hitting the dirt.

The only thing that she was thankful for was that, when the lights came back on, she was now dressed in appropriate combat gear. It was holographic and she was still actually wearing her old clothes, just she would be less concerned about it.

She dove behind an overturned car and crawled over to a building for better cover. Kaili couldn’t see who or what was firing at them and kept as low to the ground as she could. She checked to be sure that she had enough cover and started to look around for James.

James low crawled into a small crater on the other side of the ruined street. He cautiously peeked up over the edge of the crater, taking care to expose the barest minimum of his head to the open. He did not see anything, but another burst of automatic fire told him that at least one heavy gun was nearby.

Carefully, he crept out of the hole and made his way through a gaping hole in the bilding next to him. He carefully surveyed the room he was in. It looked to be some sort of clothing store which had taken at least one hit from an artillery round, but it seemed to be clear. He looked back and motioned for Kaili to join him.

Kaili was glad that this wasn’t a night simulation because at she could see around her. She took a look at the building she was in and it look reasonably solid. She glance out of a jagged hole that might have once been a window. She saw that all the buildings looked like they had been taking heavy bombing for a week. Kaili began to wonder if they would have to worry about an air-strike in this simulation.

There was a lot of dust in the air and she was surprised at how real the machine gun sounded. She took another look up and finally saw where James was. She saw him motioning for her and began to make her way carefully over to him. When she got over to him she got his attention. She hadn’t had a whole lot of this type of training and asked, “Should we be looking to arm ourselves or is getting to the safe zone the priority?”

"The objective is to get to the safe zone. If we get the opportunity to gather weapons, then so be it, but it is not a priority."

He again peeked out into the road from his position of cover.

"Go up to the second floor and find a vantage point to observe the road and as much of the surrounding area as possible. The safe zone is due north from here."

Dan finished his second cigarette, then quickly changed into his green dress uniform and brushed his hair. He slipped the baldric that his sabre hung on over his shoulder, and situated it properly on his left hip. On his right hip he holstered one of his Colt .45s. On his left breast he wore the various training awards and medals he had won over time and then he put on his greatcoat. Checking himself in the mirror he said to himself "Dan, you are amazingly sexy in uniform." and headed to the Cigars and Brandy club. He walked through the ornate doors and entered into the large lounge. The sound system was playing some Chopin, and he smelled the sweet smell of dozens of different cigars. He looked over to the well stocked bar and smiled the smile of a truly content man. "May i check your coat sir?" came a sweet female voice. He turned and saw the demure asian girl behind the counter. He smiled once again, "Why thank you, I am Daniel Daugherty, Infantry," he said holding out his hand. She took his hand and he quickly bowed and kissed her ring finger. She giggled shyly and took his coat. I am definitly gonna like it here. he said to himself as he walked toward one of the large antique chairs. A waiter came over and asked his order. "I'd like three fingers of bushmills black, and a Montecristo, Number Two." "Fine order." the waiter said as he trotted off. Dan saw a room where fencing was taking place, using live blades, but with body armor to reduce the risk of serious injury. The waiter returned with his whiskey and cigar and Dan thanked him. He struck a fine wooden match and proceeded to light his cigar. Savoring the taste, he took a sip of whiskey and looked around. "Oh yes, i will definitely like it here."

Kaili nodded her head and said, "Understood."

Keeping low to the ground, she ran towards the stairs. Everything looked so real and decrypted that she had to remind herself that it was just an illusion. She kept close to the wall as she ran quickly up the stairs.

The floor creaked loudly as she ran across. She followed the parameter of the room, glancing out of any window or hole that she could find. She finally found one that faced north and offered the best view.

Kaili couldn't see anyone on the road and kept an eye on the places that she felt could hide an enemy. She caught sight of a flash from the machine gun but it didn't look like it was firing at them. Maybe it never had been firing at them. Perhaps there would be some allies.

Sorry for being so late, busy and all

The civilian transport he had used to reach the academy had broken down a few miles back. He knew what was wrong with the car and since throwing a rod in the cylinder chamber meant getting a new car Orn gathered his gear and began to walk the remaining distence to the school. He was actually quite greatful for the excersise as he finally stepped up to the front gate that led into the school and produced his papers.

"Sargent Orn Kross," the MP at the gate said looking up at the giant before him. "Where is your car?"

"A few clicks in that direction," Orn pointed back the way he came.

"You walked..." the MP sounded surprised. "Well you will certainly fit in with the infantry" He handed the papers back to Orn and opened the gate. "Welcome to the Shit! Enjoy your stay."

Orn walked past the gate and into the main grounds, "So this is what officer school looks like."

He found his room finally after serching the grounds for quite sometime although he now had a clear understanding of the location of every building in the school a sweat had been building up on his skin as he entered the room. Slowly and carefully he began to unpack and methodically placed his belongings in positions he felt would be the most useful and within reach should the need arise.

James listened impassively to Kaili's report.

"Gathering allies is not our mission. Our objective is to get to the safe zone."

He instead walked to the farthest end of the store, making sure not to cross in front of any of the open windows or holes in the wall. He reconoitered the street in front of the clothing store. To the far right of his position was the machine gun position, probably ingaged in supression fire against another target. He noted a place nearby where debris had tumbled into the street, creating good cover across half of the street.

"We will cross here." he explained. "Go one at a time, lay flat facing the weapon. When the weapon fires, move slowly to the left until you can enter the building across the street safely. You move out first."

Before Kaili moved back downstairs, she ran and checked the side of the street opposite the gun fire. She wanted to be sure that the gun fire wasn't a distraction for an ambush. She saw nothing so she ran back downstairs to give her report...

Kaili looked outside at the cover she could use to cross the street. She picked her route and told James, "Alright."

She heard the machine gun fire again and left the safety of the store. Kaili got to an overturned car half way across the street before the gun stopped. She lay against the ground waiting for it to start again...

Kaili eventually made her way across the street and into the building. She took a quick look around and saw that it was another clothing store. She looked back to the street to find out where James was.

Maki stepped up to the big building, duffel bag slung over her shoulder, a backpack stuffed with various gear, and a long case in her left hand. This had to be the place. It looked just like what the pictures, and there was no other place nearby. Plus, she knew someone who had been nearby.

Adjusting her duffel bag on her shoulder, Maki stepped forward and into the acadamy properly. She was immediatly met by a pair of guards. One of them had a clipboard

"Name and barrack"

"Maki Nurasawa, infantry. New recruit"

The guard with the clipboard checked it and nodded, the other one waving her inside.

"Dorm three-two. Unpack and get to know the place. You will be informed of training commencement"

Maki nodded and headded inside. This would prove to be... interesting

It had not taken long for Orn to unpack the belongings he had brought with him, and place them in accordence to the strict method of protection that had been drilled into him for all his young life. Weapons were stored near his bed within arms length, loaded and ready. His sword and axe crossed over the head of the bed along with three throwing knives directly above his head. A simple reaching up with his hand and any of these could be in his grasp, the knives flying to the door and the sword ready in his hand within seconds. His guns were placed on the wall to the right, since firing his rifle took both hands and the optimum firing position would be in a crouch it made it simple to grab the weapon and acheive a firing position quickly and easily. It also made for quite the dramatic decore. His job done he finally set about taking care of himself. He showered and combed his hair, put on the clothes provided by the academy, before realizeing that the sleeves did not fit his arms. It was a common problem and one he would fix later, for now however he simply ripped the seem in the cuff and rolled them up.

He checked himself in the mirror before stepping to the door. Slowly and deliberately he opened the door and stepped out into the hallway, it was now time to check the others that had come to this school and train to become officers. Cuirously he wondered dose this school put out the type of officer that is all parties and staying in the command tents while they send men to their deaths or is this the type of school that trains its officers to fight with their men for in that way only then will men truly follow your leadership. Which ever was the case he had already determined that the latter was his way and no amount of doctrine from the school would change that.
