The Americans have moved their UK embassy to a moat-surrounded fortress.

The US Embassy's protection goes much further than the London Mayor's proposal to ban traffic around the Houses of Parliament.

The new US Embassy has taken banning vehicles much further than the London Mayor's suggestion.

If the US can do it, what is wrong with the London Mayor doing it?

Often Parliament Square has to be closed to traffic because of demonstrations about a variety of issues. Redirecting traffic away from it permanently could be sensible if there were acceptable alternative routes. When Parliament Square IS closed it causes traffic chaos across a wide part of Westminster.

The US actually closed streets around government buildings years ago; and put big concrete barriers around just about every other. 30 years ago I should have invested in concrete blocks and metal detectors. If only I had known America would become a nation of girly-men.
