I just want to poke my head in and say welcome and congrats on your position :)

I also want to speak up in defence of the "fluff" threads or discussion threads on the how to .. instead of on the GB/Playground etc. Alot of us (the older members anyway) feel an afinity to the HT and don't get along well with the pace of the other boards so we post what we need here instead of the other pages because we all understand how the flow of the other boards don't go with the flow of us here.
There is much less troll/alt activity here and less flameing... we get real answers to our fluff/discussion threads unlike the alt/troll/flame wars on the other boards.

I agree that some things could be moved, but please reconsider how much you are moving, we are a close commuity, we take care of our own on the HT - as do those on the other boards on Lit.

Maybe a poll, open yourself up to PMs or use this sticky to gain the board's opinion? Just a suggestion IMHO, go on with your beautiful Mod self and congrats again, I truely appreciate all the work ya'll do to keep Lit the place that it is

:) :rose: x100

First of all welcome and thanks for taking on the role of mod (and yes an introduction that you're in this new role would have been nice).

I'd like to add to BlueSugar's post. Please rethink what you do and how you do it. While you may technically be correct about some threads not being 'how-to'...this forum is distinctly different than the GB and the Playground. Frankly, God forbid if you transfer these threads to the GB! You'll be sounding the death bed of the How To community.

LG - don't kid yourself that the How To forum isn't a community. It is. Some of us frequent other forums, but a lot of people don't...or rarely...and they see the How To forum as their 'home' on Lit. If you want to keep people coming back to the How To forum to be available to answer the how to questions, there needs to be a recognition that this is a community and sometimes to keep it as a community/family you need to chat...say hi to someone you haven't see post in a while...play/tease each other a bit...get to know some of the new posters. Somewhere not that long ago, there was a thread about what keeps you coming back to Lit....if I recall correctly...it was the people...the friendships people had made...the feeling of community/family. Please don't ruin this by being concerned about technicalities of 'how to'.

Of greatest concern to me is the WFMS thread. Kisso posted last night that he wished it had been named...oh God what was it?...but it started with 'How to'...something like How To raise your spirit....LG this thread is crucial to the How To thread...I don't care whether it answers a question or not. It's the crux of what we are. A caring community of like minded people...sharing who we are...helping others. That thread is a godsend to some people. Please be gentle with it.

As an aside...I'm also reminded of the old adage...don't fix what isn't broken. I'm not aware that anyone thinks the How To forum is broken...in fact, I'd say the opposite. It works well. Very well. ok there maybe be the occasional chat that is frustrating, but they get dealt with. (Personally I've only seen one that frustrated me and I've been on here for 1 1/2 years.) If you think there are a number, perhaps a less disruptive approach might be to PM the people you think are offending and ask them to curtail their chatting a bit or move it to the Playground.

So LG please reconsider ALL the ramifications to your suggested actions...not just that you may be technically correct. I fear you may be playing with the basic fibre of these threads. To even think of sending some of these threads to the GB tells me I'm right to be concerned.

Blue Sugar and Wicked Woman..

I understand your concerns, I won't be moving the larger threads, that have been ongoing for months i.e. What pisses you off, What feeds your soul. And I DO understand there is a sense of community here.

BUT....

I respectfully ask, that any NEW chat threads be posted at the other 2 boards, where they should be posted.
