The Iowa Republican on Wednesday issued a joint statement with Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) alleging Biden was involved in a “criminal scheme” when he served as vice president that involved a foreign national.

"It is a very serious allegation. I wish I could say that I knew it was true or untrue," the 89-year-old lawmaker told Van Susteren.

According to the report, Grassley’s comments echoed a similar statement he made Thursday to Fox News’ Chad Pergram that he couldn’t confirm "whether or not it's really criminal activity.”

srsly, when they state this kind of thing, with no evidence, from the kind of platform they own, they should be open to being sued for defamation at the very least.

Where I come from...we just beat the living shit out of them...then ask if they want to go drink a few beers to discuss our issues. Funny how that works.

This story is unfolding rapidly. Question for the OP or anyone else following it more closely than me:

1. Did Grassley say the allegations were true? Newsweek reported that Grassley made comments about the uncertainty of the allegations after they initially went public.

2. Has the FBI responded?

yeahhhhhhhh, beating up an 89-year-old man isn't the way a civilised country operates

Sounds like Giuliani’s final evidence of election fraud …something he saw posted someplace on the internet…

Not his best court moment

But

Better than shoving his hand down his pants on the big screen

Rep. James Comer told Fox News that he and Sen. Chuck Grassley have reviewed a whistleblower letter alleging “a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.” Comer said that both he and Grassley found the source “credible.”

In his interview with Sean Hannity on Fox, Comer reveals more than just his having reviewed the letter. In a bombshell admission that goes unacknowledged in the interview, Rep. Comer reveals that his understanding of the conduct and professionalism of the FBI derives from what Fox News and Hannity have previously presented — in other words, Comer isn’t delivering news to Hannity; Hannity is framing the story for Comer.

“Well, Sen. Grassley and I both reviewed that disclosure. We find it very credible. We’re very concerned. We have a lot of questions as to whether or not the FBI even looked into this. We know from your previous reporting that you’ve already stated on the show that they turned a blind eye to anything pertaining to Joe Biden and they just assume the worst when they look into anything that pertains to former President Trump. So we’re very concerned.”

so they make their claims based on what Hannity tells them. fucking puppets.

when even Fox News tells comer he has nuthin':

Republicans who have been trying for years to “prove” that President Biden is somehow corrupt made a big show Wednesday of revealing their smear campaign to be a shameless, empty exercise in rumor and innuendo.

Don’t take my word for it. Listen to Steve Doocy, one of the hosts of the morning show “Fox & Friends,” which is normally the safest possible space for Republican politicians to trumpet their talking points.

You don’t actually have any facts to that point,” Doocy said Thursday to House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), who was trying to sell the idea that the president, his brother James and his son Hunter were part of some shadowy influence-peddling scheme. “And the other thing is, of all those names, the one person who didn’t profit is — there’s no evidence that Joe Biden did anything illegally.”

Robinson writes: “The committee’s investigators went down deep rabbit holes involving business dealings that companies associated with members of Biden’s family conducted with firms in two countries, Romania and China. The theory seems to be the following: Biden, as vice president, was critical of corruption in Romania even as his son dealt with a corrupt Romanian businessman. One of the Chinese businesses Hunter Biden had a relationship with was led by a man who once was close to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Therefore …
Therefore, what? The committee produced no evidence to suggest that Biden did anything at all to help his son’s overseas business partners, or even that Biden knew which foreign companies his son, other family members and “associates” had transactions with.

If JimmyC had anything at all, he'd have less than the FBI started out with back then.
