After Georgia election, Democrats are demoralized, again

They ached for this seat. They fought for it fiercely. They reasoned that Ossoff had a real chance: Donald Trump, after all, won this district by just 1.5 percentage points. Donations for Ossoff flooded in, helping to make this the most expensive House race in history by far.

Democrats came up empty-handed nonetheless. So a party sorely demoralized in November is demoralized yet again — and left to wonder if the intense anti-Trump passion visible in protests, marches, money and new volunteers isn’t just some theatrical, symbolic, abstract thing.

My guess is that Handel’s success owed a great deal to the assertiveness with which Republicans painted Ossoff as a liberal puppet, ready to have Nancy Pelosi pull his strings. Because he’s just 30, had a paltry record to invoke and seemed to be getting ahead of himself by running in a district in which he wasn’t even residing, he was ripe to be defined — and caricatured — by the other side.

That’s one lesson to take away from this: Candidates matter. And Ossoff’s defeat may make it more difficult for Democrats to recruit the best ones for the equally tough House races to come. Those ditherers craved encouragement, as did the party. It eludes all of them still.

It strikes me that we just witnessed a 180º turn on the part of the Left again.

Republicans were guilty of bashing a highly qualified woman while supporting an inexperienced white man (you know rich white privilege) and we just watched as Democrats attacked the experienced woman (she didn't secure the vote, but at least no ambassadors died) and giving $30 million dollars to the inexperienced white (privileged) man...

They fought so hard for gay marriage as a stabilizing force for society, but this guy cannot bring himself to marry his finance of 12+ years.

I'm feeling really good about 2018...

Republicans maintain control of the House & the Senate.

Trump gets 2 (possibly 3) SCOTUS picks by the end of his 1st term.

Welfare reform

Welfare reform

Did I mention welfare reform?

It is said he will appoint as many as five judges to the Ninth District Circuit Court of Appeals as well.

Elections aren't rocket science but Democrats and GOP elites (and most GB posters) don't get how victories happen.

People vote their prosperity, security, and safety. No one cares about tranny toilets and raghead rights to terrorize Americans. People want jobs, affordable healthcare, and safe streets.

2018? 2018? Don't talk to me about 2018! We just want to win one more special election! 2018???

"The special election in South Carolina’s 5th Congressional District, between Democrat Archie Parnell and Republican Ralph Norman, was held to replace Mick Mulvaney, who became the White House’s budget director in February. As the votes were counted in the largely rural district, Parnell lost by just a 3.2-point margin in an area Mulvaney had won by more than 20 points just last year."

Reason #1 why the BroPatrol might want to tone down the gloating.

Yes. Then there is winning with grace, something we see almost none of.

I didn't win a thing, so who is this bro patrol?

In short, are others gloating, or are you obsessing?

There you go spinning the results to suit some narrative that doesn't work out in the end.

Why? Because you fail to account for human nature.

Mulvaney won by such a margin not because his D opponents were bad. He won because he was what the voters wanted. They LIKED him. And they didn't like his opponent.

Now they voted for Norman over Parnell because they like Norman more and Parnell less. That doesn't mean the D's are gaining ground, just that Norman wasn't as well liked as Mulvaney. The D's don't understand that you don't win elections by playing the statistics. You win by presenting electable candidates with REAL VISION instead of dreams and BS.

The results are not a referendum on Trump or Rs. It's a wake up call for D's and they hit the snooze. Again.

Who's doing the spinning? (I reported results.) Typical BroPatrol selective logic.

So, commenting on the fact that Norman won by a smaller margin than Mulvaney isn't spin?

Let me paraphrase for you:

Well, you see, the R's are slowing losing ground. Look at how the margins are narrowing in each race. Eventually they will lose and the D's will win. UP with progressivism!

Isn't that the current narrative?
Isn't that what you did?
And what you said wasn't a quote, so don't go there either. It may have been but YOU posted it as your words.

So, now go ahead and tell me not to put words in your mouth. Deny and deflect. We can all read. Most of us can think.

But go ahead.

I quoted facts. You stated many opinions and presented them like facts.

Once again; when you say ONLY the things which promote your point of view, that's called spin. Why I would think you wouldn't do this in your explanation is beyond me. I must be having a senior moment.

Apparently, Rachel Maddow is now lamenting the weather constituted a "partisan implication' for the outcome of the election, as it might have rained more on Democrats than Republicans.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

This is in denial of the near record turnout too. Maddow is a has-been doing her best to keep the Obama legacy alive.

If you're a Democrat/liberal/progressive/leftist/fascist one thing is certain: your shit is very, very weak.

To summarize, President Trump is not hated by a majority of the population, even if the majority still don't particularly like him.

His base still loves him as much as ever, or more so.

Those conservative leaning Republicans and independents who didn't want him as their first choice in the primaries but voted for him in the general election still support him even if they don't particularly like him or would prefer a more conventional conservative.

The people who didn't like him but don't spend their life obsessing about him still have not been won over or changed their opinion. However, they are less likely to vote, especially in mid-terms.

The people who hated him still hate him, but they are a minority of the population.

lmao at all the Rs here.

Do any one of you NOT live in mom's basement?

How many of you make over 200K a year? Didn't think so. Then you're crowing about victory for a class that is going to screw you over, as they have always done.

Is that how it works? You wait on the rich fucks who come into Wal Mart, then jump for joy when THEY get their tax breaks? Whoo hoo!

You're the yahoos easily manipulated by the RNC; at least the people of the 6th district are going to get something out of their affiliation. You will get nothing, as usual.

There is NOTHING in it for you except, I don't know, more guns. Nothing. Zilch. Zero.

Rs have never done a single thing for anyone but the rich fucks they serve. ZERO.

What a bunch of incoherent blather.

You're just lucky you're on the wife's healthcare plan, miles. People who actually contribute to your easy lifestyle have to think about these things.
