Effort to eliminate one of the last two Afrikaner villages in South Africa have begun:

KBK spokeswoman Marisa Haasbroek said: "This transaction was conducted by a separate financial institution, a cooperative bank called KSKK, not [KBK]. I cannot comment on behalf of KSKK."

KSKK stands for Kleinfontein Spaar en Krediet Koöperasie and its website says it is a deposit-taking financial institution owned by its shareholders. They could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.

Legal expert Malose Matsaung says the owners of the settlement are hiding behind the constitution.

"Kleinfontein residents cannot discriminate against Mr Shabalala on the basis of his race, ethnic origin, culture and so on unless they can prove their discrimination is fair. Such fairness can only be determined by the [courts]."

There are only two settlements anywhere in the world that are entirely populated by white Afrikaners. Both of them have less than 2,000 residents. Why would the "powers that be" even care? Mr. Shabalala can live anywhere else he wishes, but is deliberately trying to change the nature of the settlement. Its a private community which was started for a specific purpose, that is helping a belegered and dwindling minority group have a small place for itself.

"Opportunistic, intolerant, bad-mannered and bossy." That was how the leadership of the Afrikaner-only community of Kleinfontein, Pretoria, described the DA Youth during its protest outside the enclave yesterday.

Settlement resident and board member Danie de Beer said the news that the DA's youth wing would march on Kleinfontein had been disconcerting and there was some fear in the community.

He said the DA wanted media attention to drum up support for next year's elections. "They accused us of being racist. I found them bossy and bad-mannered."

Yes, they are over the longterm. These people have a human right to live the way they wish. The DA, the historically white "liberal" party, is the one stirring this up. The one thing these beleaguered communities have going for them is that they have a semi-positive relationship with the ANC. The DA is a pathetic joke of a party with less than 20% support. They are trying to play on black hatred of Boers to expand beyond their white electoral base and using a small, controversial group of scapegoats to do it.
