Advice Required Please

I have a poem I wish to post. It is an Honouring Poem. There is some history behind it, and I was wondering if it would be alright to add some of the history before the poem. That way then the readers will understand the poem and hopefully come to realize the plight behind it.

I should think it would be okay.

If you'd like to put the history in italics, then use HTML. Put <I> in front of the history and </I> directly behind it. This would help people see that it's not a part of the poem without a length of **** in the middle.

I wouldn't make the history too long and involved, though, just enough so the poem makes sense, but not so much that the poem is shadowed by it.

History as introduction makes perfect sence. I agree with KM. Be careful not to over do it. Let the emotion of the poem explain the gaps you leave in the history. Good luck!
