I have a story I’ve been working on after stepping away from writing for a while that I’m not sure which genre it would fit in. The basic premise is that there’s an engaged woman who gets mistaken for an escort by another man after her fiancee stands her up for a date night. She’s angry and goes along with it and acts as his escort for the night. Since the couple aren’t married I’m not sure if this technically fits into the LW category, and I’m honestly rather hesitant to post there considering the exact nature of that beast (I’ve only done one LW story before). But then it would have to go into EC which basically never gets any traction. I’m torn, should I roll the dice with LW with a story that sort of fits or settle for EC knowing it’ll get a higher rating but nowhere near the views/comments?

You need to decide whether you want a better score or the LW range of comments. You'll probably get 50/50 each way advice.

...or introduce some sort of twist that allows another category, such as Anal or Fetish.

If it was me, I'd go with Erotic Couplings. As far as I'm concerned, if the main female character isn't married then it shouldn't be considered a Loving Wives story. There may be a fine line here in your plot, but it should still be considered EC.

Also, I like your premise. Please let us know when it's posted, I'd like to check it out.

I would agree that erotic couplings would seem to be the better fit for what you described. The question I have is the story stand-alone or going to be a part of a series? If it is a series it could start in EC and evolve with different sections falling into the group sex, lesbian, or cross into incest. If the man she hooked up with is her fiance's father-in-law and blackmails (non-consensual) her to keep servicing him and pays her for sex on the side after her wedding.

You are the author and I have seen authors who have a series and one part falls into one category and the next part is in another.

I would lean EC, less votes and comments but much less flaming and hate
You'd also get double the hate from the lunatics in LW because she's not actually a "wife"...it doesn't take much to wind them up.

Lol, that is so true. Any small detail would get them riled up :D:D:D
